      Dimenhydrinate Tablets

Will Gravol, being the extreme sedative that it is, affect my dreaming?

I know I will sleep for a long time, which will allow me to stop waking up as frequently in the daytime....I am on a nocturnal sleep clock.... so I would go to sleep at 3:00 or 4am, and sleep until around 1-2pm. I know, it seems weird probably, but I have some kind of virus or thingy where I had to go get ultrasound and the results are not beck yet, so I do not know what it is.

I take the anti-nauseant because it allows me to eat solid food without throwing it up, otherwise I can only drink certain liquid food supplements. gross. I am also on Tramacet for abdominal pain, which only occurs at night, which is why I am nocturnal. I have pain at night, then I take the pain pills, then the pian does not go away for another two hours, then I get hungry so I figure if i were to take some gravol, wait half an hour for it to kick in, and then eat, by that time I would fall asleep from drowsiness.

so...will the gravol affect my dreaming? or the Tramacet?

Well I am going to try it now, without eating anything, as this will heighten the effects of both drugs. my doctor has told me that it is ok to do this, as the drugs will not interfere with each other. here I go...I will post back when I wake up.

OK I'm up now....and instead of what I thought would be a straight sleep, I had 5 dreams; and a whopping 2 of the 5 were LUCID. I have never had a lucid dream, ever, and I do not do any exercises.
The content of the dreams was significantly different from the norm (for me, anyways) as they were all nightmares as far as I can remember. One included a rape, which I did not experience but the man was advancing on me and talking about me in sexual ways before I woke up.
Another involved a re-enactment of a scene from my grade five life, where I was bullied and pushed into the ground, and mud was shoved in my mouth.
The next dream was a continuation of the second dream, again things that had happened to me in real life, but farther down the years. Everyone who passed me in school said I had some dirt in my teeth and then laughed, and then the dream jumped to grade seven where it was ice cream day in the lunchroom and someone pushed a bowl of mud in front of me.
the fourth and fifth were the lucid dreams, which started out as nightmares but evolved into good dreams when I changed them.
      the fourth I forgot.
The fifth dream was about The old Amityville Horror movie, except I was the only one in the big haunted house. So I smashed open a window to get outside, and I looked up and there were two moons in the sky. This is where I did a reality check, and then I changed the dream so that I wasn't in the house at all, but in a car, and it was daytime. I drove the car all the way to the beach, where I met some people who asked me over to their house for dinner. then I woke up.
      Very weird and frightening indeed.

Good move talking to your doctor. That is the only place answers to your question should come from. Nobody here is in a position to give you advice about medications - especially when used in combination.

Using an over the counter drug for anything other than its stated purpose and according to directions is dangerous and often illegal. I say this because you obviously have a real need for what you are doing. I wouldn't want to see anybody trying these things who doesn't need them.

agreed with pj, no one has the authority to give credible advice on medication. It's cool though how your medication had no negative effect on your dreaming at all, and on your first encounter with lucids you have 2! Congradulations
