      worst night... why?

Last night i had one of the worst nights of sleep. I was wondering if anyone could tell me why. I'll fill in almost all the details so you can make a hypothesis.
I had just got an alarm clock, so i was excited about trying WILD with a wbtb. I brought apple juice up to my room, because i heard it was a good idea to improve the vividness and chance of LDing. i went up to bed at 11:30 and tried to get to sleep. The alarm was set for 6.
I didn't even get to sleep until 12:30, i couldn't for some reason, even though i was really tired. then i fell asleep until 1:50. it didn't even feel like i had slept because i didn't remember any sort of dream in between. I fell back to sleep in a few minutes, and then woke up at 2:50, and then 4:00, finally i got more of an hour of sleep and i stayed asleep until my alarm went off at 6. I hit snooze, and then found that i could remember nothing of my dreams. Then i drank my glass of apple juice, and tried to get back to sleep for WILD, but i just couldn't sleep, so i came down here to write this.

Excitement seriously buggers your sleep over, when I was a lot younger, I could never sleep before Christmas or my birthday, it sucked so much. So I've noticed, that if you are looking forward to doing something early in the morning, you will have to wait the entire time in bed. Getting annoyed doesn't work, it sends you into a state of panic, then there's no going to sleep after that unless you can calm yourself down and force your mind to wander.
Question: Which came first, the chicken or the egg?
      Answer: Neither, single-celled organisms did.
