      about Melatonin

I was reading my paper today and came across this article . It mentions that melatonin is potentially dangerous. I was planning on buying some to help with my LDs. Now Im reconsidering. If I did start taking it, it would probably only be two or three times a week at most. So should I be worried or should I just go ahead with it?

yeah i take it at most three times a week, and and once or twice on average. for me it works great, whether or not it works as well as a placebo i don't know. i recommend for you to at least try it for a couple of weeks, but as long as you don't over do it, you should be fine.

p.s. i take it to deal with my self-diagnosed insomnia, not for it's supposed dream enhancement, for me i didn't notice any changes in my dreams when i take it (5mg).

Nothing happened to me, but last night was the first time I took it. Squirrels are a little bit tinier than humans, and Ben thought 3mg would kill me or something, so we ground a 3mg tablet up and weighed a very small amount out for me and I took it with milk... Hmm. From what I've read, it's mostly dangerous to kids who are developing and pregnant or lactating women... Can squirrels get melanoma?

Try taking a lower dose, only a few times a week, if you're worried. Nobody knows yet really what the long term effects are

EDIT: It's not very likely to induce more vivid dreams for you. The average dose of melatonin metabolizes in less than 20 minutes, and it's effects only last a few minutes beyond that. But all the best luck to you!

eat a handful of walnuts before bed = natural melatonin, completely safe.
