I don't feel good.

So today I came home from school early cause I'm sick. I'e been throwing up & I have a really bad headache. I can barely keep water down. My whole body hurts, & I'm runing a fever

Does anybody have any tips on how I can get better fast? And does anybody know what wrong with me? I'm supposed to go to the doctor tomorow I think.
I just want to go back to school.

Sounds like u got good old influenza to me. I know youre not holding down water, but keep drinking it regardless, at least 64 oz a day, preferably spring water.

Also keep your fever up!!! A common mistake is to try to lower your fever or sit in the cold so you don't feel so hot, but actually a fever is extremely beneficial up to 105 degrees for adults, so stay warm.

When you are able to eat, make sure the food contains some sodium.

Personally I don't think medicine is necessary for influenza, I just ride it out and it seems to go away a lot faster than if I try to suppress it with otc drugs.

EDIT: Although I don't find drugs necessary, if the nausea is still severe after 48 hours you can ease it by taking the otc meds: meclizine, cyclizine, or diphenhydramine. If you cannot hold down medicine then you can go to a clinic and get antiemetic suppositories.

Oh dear. So I went to the doctor today & they did some tests on me ( drew blood & all that stuff) & they told me I had MONO!
I don't know how I got it, unless it was from sharing drinks with my friends ( last time I kissed somebody was last year). The doctor wants to see me again on Monday, but until then no school

This sucks, I actuly love going to school ( I'm really social). No play practice or anything!
Anyway enough with my ranting, thanks for the help everybody

Mono is caused by the epstein barr virus (a strain of herpes), which is currently carried by up to 95% Americans. Most people never get sick when they get the virus, but some people develop mono. Whether you get sick or not the virus never leaves your body, so nearly everyone in the US is currently carrying the virus. It can be very unpleasant but the bulk of the symptoms typically pass within a few weeks.

Unfortunately there is no effective medical treatment other than covering up the symptoms with drugs. Just stay hydrated and warm and eat healthy.

I enjoyed school also. Not the learning, but socializing with the teachers. But i'd say enjoy the time off ^_^. even if you are sick

lol you guys don't like people who don't like school. I know it's social and everything, but don't you guys realize that its easier to be social outside of school when you have freedom to go where you want and do what you want without teachers telling you to shut up all the time? I've made friends much easier on sports teams and hanging out after school than talking to each other at lunch and during class. I mean, I do think school is important and all and I work hard at it but I just prefer my days to be less monotonous, scheduled, uneventful, repetitive, you get my point.

ANYWAY, sorry for being off topic... and unfortunately I don't have any advice for mono

yeah, learning is great, but not the way my teachers make us learn. I can't concentrate when all they do is lecture and talk. I'm not an auditory learner. I want to get out and actually do things and see things and experience it... heck, even discuss it to learn, not just listen to what someone has to say about the topic.

*on-topic* Unfortunately I don't know much about mono but I would recommend staying hydrated and not doing anything overly physical.

Hey people,
just thought I'd give everybody an update. i was admitted to the hospital on the 28 becouse I got a really high temp & I kept on pucking so I couldn't keep any fluids down. I just got home today but I feel SO much better. I still have a headache & soor throat but I'm back to my old self.
Better yet I get to go back to school on Monday
