So, last night actually "this morning", I had over 10 paralysis' in the middle of the night. During one of the occurrences I saw a weird figure standing over my bed and I couldn't move at all, or even say anything, my heart was beating at a tremendous rate. I just wanna know what is going on, I get these every once and a while. But last night was by far the weirdest paralysis experience I have ever had. |

Wait... I thought you could only have sleep paralysis during/around a REM cycle... How did you get 10? |
|
Bollocks.
Oh... I always thought that you had to just come out of REM to be caught in sleep paralysis (as in, aware that you are there, but can't move.). |
|
Bollocks.
Well yes, but the fact that it's occurring while you're no longer in REM sleep is what makes it, then, sleep paralysis. Unfortunately the term is a little ambiguous, is often incorrectly used by people, and often attributed to experiences where people don't even try to move and find they are paralyzed, let alone when they can say for a fact what stage of sleep or wakefulness they were in. |

Well, I knew just not moving was different than not being able to move... |

Bollocks.
Well I meant that a lot of people feel or see HH and say that they were in SP. But if they didn't try to move and find that they were paralyzed, how could they possibly know that they were in SP or not? Especially since SP can happen without HH, and HH can happen without SP. |
|
Sadly, I know about HH without SP... |

Bollocks.
About sleep atonia... just sounds like a case of semantics to me.. |
