iPod. Zune's a cripple. |

Well, if you hack the zune a little its almost like ipod |
I agree, the WiFi will be cool once it's hacked, but Microsoft's gone and disabled EVERYTHING on the Zune. Then they added a separate, crippled piece of software instead of using their old one, ditched all their former business partners and screwed all their previous customers, and invented an arbitrary, backwards as hell means to purchase music through their store. I mean, I'm not a big fan of iTunes since all purchased music is in protected AAC format, so I can't burn it to a mp3 disk for my mp3 CD player. But at the very least, with iTunes you can buy music WITH ACTUAL CURRENCY. You don't have to buy "iPoints" which you can exchange for music at a weird, distorted exchange rate. Microsoft really just wanted to find a way to simultaneously screw people and make extra money. |

I had to go look up what a Zune was. I've never heard or seen these things before! |
.
The Zune could've been amazingly, super duper cool. Perhaps, perhaps sort of actually unseated a lot of the iPod's market share. And while it will still rock a lot when hacked, hacking isn't cool (I kind of want it to work cool out of the box). I don't entirely blame Microsoft for this, though. I mean, if they had released unfiltered Wi-fi, then the RIAA would've been friggin' livid* - and lest we forget, Microsoft has a hell of a lot of money to sue for. |
girlEcho, basically Zune's Microsoft's idea of an iPod killer. |

I didn't even mention the insanity of not working with WMP11 and all that. I don't know what Microsoft are thinking. Probably braindead. |
My iPod is slowly dying (I should really try to not drop it anymore) |
You think iPod sounds like crap? Really? I didn't notice any crapiness. I have an iPod Mini with the iPod Nano v2 earplugs and it might just be my non-critical ears, but I don't really notice anything. |

Zune - |
iPod please. |
The Zune has good potential, but they messed up on a few things, so I'm gonna go with iPod, mostly because of the design, it's easy to use, and iTunes. |
I'm probably going to be getting rid of my iPod soon, the reason being iTunes |
No, not free. Read the rest of the topic--it's totally crippled. The screen, admittedly, is good--though note that it isn't a higher resolution, only higher size. iPod's supposed to be releasing a larger screen later, which is probably a good move, since everybody's tired of squinting to make out a movie on that tiny little screen. |

also, FYI, songs you download from itunes store only play on ipods, and songs you download from the zune store (forget what it's called) only play on the zune. that means if you have an extensive collection of music downloaded from itunes, getting a zune just isn't very smart |

Of course, you can always use HYMN to unlock your iTunes store purchases, and there's ways to unlock Zune store purchases, too. Only problem is they're time-consuming. iTunes has an older format, so there's better ways to crack it, but in the case of Zune store downloads, the converting process is at 1x speed. (At least the only way I know of doing it--which is playing the song while directly reading the audio output and recording it to an mp3.) |

Yet another reason not to buy music online. |
