Is there an alternative or simlilir action to formatting my computer?

It's just that I want to get rid of all this crap on my computer without some stupid error saying it can't find the uninstall button! The reason I can't just format my computer is because I'v lost the bloody disk, I just need a way to delete everything and leave the important stuff. Anyway know how I can do so?

If you're having problems uninstalling programs it might be worth reinstalling them first, sometimes it readds corrupt files needed for uninstalling. You could also delete the files manually from the program files folder or w/e. This obviously wont get rid of all the files for most programs though, theres likely registry entries and files added to the system folder etc. You can get programs like registry cleaner that hunt down unused registry entries and similar for dll's but I havnt really used them so cant say whether its worth it. Erm.. If the main problem is you need to clear some space on your harddrive it might be worth downloading something like "windirstat" or "sequiaview", a really good way to see whats taking up space on your HD. Theres probably a much simpler way to do it, some program better than windows uninstaller, but i dont know about it

Try System Mechanic 6, it has a program remover and a registry cleaner. Windows core is the registry which Microsoft can't figure out how to clean on the fly so crap just piles up in it, it can really slow your computer down.

I think I already have to be honest. In other words, downloaded a Reg Cleaner not knowing how to detect stupid Reg Codes.

Me and a few of my colleagues have been using it for a while and have never had a problem with it. It seems pretty reputable as well as it has been mentioned on BBC News 24's Click and in the Daily Telegraph. Just make sure you follow the instructions and backup your registry before you use the registry cleaner (the program asks you to do this when you press the "Fix" button) and you will be covered even if something does go wrong.
