I was wondering if there's a program I can use to change the default sound level of an mp3 file. I've been downloading some live performances of a band from youtube and converted them to mp3. While I need to turn the volume up for some songs, I have to turn it down for others. It's a pain having to do this every time and I can't use shuffle without risking being blasted out of my chair. |

Aye, I've used GoldWave for years now. I find it even more comfortable and intuitive than software like Sony's Soundforge. All that commercial software has fancy designs and all such but it's harldy as easy to use. GoldWave has everything you need and more for sound editing. Especially something as simple as volume changing. Several different options for that and all quite obviously found and used. |

yep, Goldwave is awesome! Merlock did you pay or using the free version? |

You could always use iTunes, just highlight all your music and then hit properties for them and adjust the volume for them all as a whole. |

I use Replaygain in foobar2000, but unless you also listen to your music in foobar2000, I'd go with MP3Gain like Ynot said. |

I've used GoldWave for years for my sound editing purposes. I'm curious about mp3gain - how much can it do? Without being able to manipulate the waveform directly, how much can one do with the format directly? |

Ah, so that's pretty much ALL it does |

iTunes. Turn on sound check and it will automatically make all of your music the same average volume. You can adjust them manually if you want too. |

Alright, thanks everyone! I've decided to use Mp3Gain, and it works nicely. |
