      Computer Fan (Laptop)

Is it possible to make it sound a bit more quite, this is why I can't sleep. I mean, I'm trying to do [What we're here for] and plan on getting up in the middle of the night. But then, I can't get to sleep in the first place, I'm meant to sleep for five hours and I end up sleeping a whole of twenty seconds? Or does it count on how long you're in bed and not how long you sleep?

Anyway, the computer fan, is it possible to lower it? And possible turn off the lights at the front? My computer takes ages to load up, it's really rubish.

Is there some reason that you always leave the computer on at night? Mine is usually only on if it's doing some overnight calculations or something. You can put the computer to sleep or hypernate.

You can also buy an accessory, I forget what it's called. It goes under the laptop and connects to your USB. It's got two ultra quiet fans on it that keep it cool, thus your internal fan never turns on.

Ninja - So, if I leave Internet Explorer on Hibernate in the night, it'll say on Internet Explorer?

And Mes I think it's a Hp Pavillion Ze5700, yeah I just read that from the monitior, but I think I'v Googled it before.

I'll put it on Hibernate then if that works.

Edit - Why the hell you attempting to help in the Tech Forum Mes, who said you were aloud to do such a thing, GTF.... Lol am jokin

In both hibernate and sleep mode all the processes stop. If your computer is doing work (encoding a movie, doing a long download...) you can't do that.

Hybernation is, at least on my laptop, where it safes all settings and programs on the harddisk, then shutdown, and when you boot it, it will return to what you were doing, when you set it to hybernate.

Sleep, is just turning off all processes, without shutting down.
Difference? Sleep starts up faster, but also drains power, while hybernation virtually doesn't.
My laptop fan can make a bit of noise, when lots of processes are running, but all in all, I'm never annoyed by it, or anything.

I don't know if I should even be attempting to help out in the tech forum but with my own computer, I've found that the fan is practically silent if there aren't any big processes running...

For the lights, just put a cloth over them or something.

What computer do you have, by the way?

Worst comes to worst, can you stick it in the next room or something during the night? Or put it in standby mode so it boots up quicker?

Maybe it's time to clean out/replace your fan as well.
