Can you expand on that, just out of curiosity really |

I've got XP, and it works for me. I've tried Linux and just left confused. OS X is nice, but can get troublesome sometimes. |

DosBox |

I think he meant FreeDOS, which is a standalone OS. |
VISTAReally. |
^ Not only did he ask for a lesser-known OS, he asked for a good, stable one. |
Yeah, I was referring to FreeDOS or DrDOS, not a DOS box. |

Oh, another more obscure operating system is called Solaris 10. It's a UNIX based operating system out of Sun. It runs fairly well on Sparc processors, but I've never seen it on a PC or Mac before although there are ports to both. Sun likes to push Java for reasons that I'll never understand so it may run slow on an Intel or PPC processor. |

I don't see what's wrong with Vista. I can still play solitaire and use all of the internets with it. |

Windows 3.1 is not an OS |
Oops, well neither was 95 or 98. The title of the thread also asks for shells |

Okay I will try this. Someone told me once I need to format a C? Should I do that now? |
Oh, okay. I guess that's why they call it a C. |
If you can, use your Dad's favorite CD's |
Your computer really doesn't have a hard drive? Then that limits you to some Linux Live distro or FreeDos really. All the other OS's require hard drives. |
