Problem with song on mah ipod

I downloaded this song which plays fine on itunes, but on my ipod there's a huge chunk of it in the middle that makes the ipod sort of freeze up and then skip onto the next song. It's weird. Is there any way to fix this, or is my best bet just getting a different file?

Ctrl+Click on the song -> Convert Selection to AAC.

Is this an mp3 file? For Apple mp3 have been a dead technology for years, mp4s run better on iPods.

Ah, seriously? Yeah it's mp3. I'll go try that right now...

What's err umm the difference between mp3s and mp4s?

Edit: Yeah, tried that and didn't fix the problem. I guess I should just search for it in mp4. This is the first time I'm encountering this problem tho.

It could be a corrupt song, get it off your ipod and off your computer. Download another song (of course the same song) from another user and/or program.

If the file were corrupt I don't think iTunes would play it then either. Maybe there was a glitch with the transfer, try to resync it. If that doesn't work then you may need to find another copy of it. Search the iTunes store for it, those are all high quality mp4s.

The difference is that the mp4 is more hardware intensive but had twice the compression quality. A 128K mp4 is approx equivalent to a 256K mp3.
