Thread: Firefox spell checking not working?

I was looking through the preferences in Firefox just now and noticed that I have "Check my spelling as I type" activated. However, as activated as it might be in the options menu, it doesn't seem to be present anywhere...

So is there some trick that I don't know of to make use of spell checking? Not that I need or necessarily want it on but I'm trying to figure out why it's not visible anywhere while apparently turned on.

Genius. It works.

I just reinstalled firefox so I guess the newer versions don't come with it automatically checked off. And funny how the spell checker doesn't recognize "firefox"

Well, the right-click menu in a text area only has...

• Undo
• Cut
• Copy
• Paste
• Delete
• Select All
• Properties
• Add dictionaries...

And I am indeed using the latest Firefox 2.x, updating every time an update is available.

sounds like you haven't selected a dictionary yet

I really need to start following through on my curiosity.
I'd obviously have figured it out if I installed a dictionary just to check, heh.

But, aye, thanks, I can now have ugly red lines under my (highly rarely) misspelled words!
