      I need a Sound Editor's help (Or a good web-searcher)

I am trying to extract .wad files from a game called Enter The Matrix for the authentic whooshes and bullet time sounds. If anyone has a program to do this, a method of doing it, or could point me to where to ask I would be most grateful.

If anyone knows where I could get the authentic sounds off the internet please link the page with the sounds on it. (Don't point me to sites, point me to this sounds in the site)

If anyone knows (And I mean have good experience with) editing raw sound, could you tell me how to go about creating them from scratch?

...In other words, I need these sounds at all costs.

      Thank you so much!

Do you really think I haven't done that? Seriously?

I found a couple of different programs, Game Audio Player, which will play and convert to MP3 or WAV, and MFAudio, which also converts the audio. You'll have to do a quick Ctrl+F and type in the name of the program on the page, it should be a 60kb Zip file.

Hope one of these works for you.

Thanks for the links! FilePlanet I had problems with the mirrors and MFaudio doensn't support the .wad file type, but it wil come in handy for RAWs when I need to convert them.

I think it would be far easier to find the sounds on the internet rather than rip it off the game. Since the game uses the authentic sound effects, the publishers probably made sure they couldn't get out easily. I dug up programs that decoded it but the links were broken. (God I hate that) If they were that easy to get off the game, I think they would be all over the internet.

The sounds that the internet would have would most likely have been recorded from the movie itself, and then filtered for music and grunts/footsteps/background noise.

I have shifted my focus from getting the sounds off the game to recording it straight from the movie. Anyone know how I would go about this (specific program names would be very helpful) and how to filter the sound out?

I have in mind the opening scene from the Matrix Reloaded, where there is very little music playing at the beginning of the fight with Neo and the three Agents.

I might repost a thread with this specific question if this thread dies...

Hmm, you might try using Audacity--just run a line out of your headphone/line out jack and into your line in/mic jack on your sound card. Then play the part of the movie with the sound you want while recording from the line in jack in Audacity.

As for filtering out the background sounds... No idea. I'll do a quick search for the sounds, I've found sound clips from other movies before easily enough, as popular as the Matrix movies are there ought to be plenty of places to find the sound effects.

Edit: Found this at least. They've got the bullet-time whoosh effect among others.

      EUREKA!

      I have the answer!

I will record the audio feed from my computer straight to my camera!

I will turn the music and noise sliders on the game sound options panel down and record punching, kicking and focus in/out! I hope this works!

Um, .wads are tiny pieces of a sound. You need a program to put them together or risk going insane.

      By the way...

IT WORKED! MY EVIL PLAN WORKED!!!

Now I just have to find a quiet place in the game...

(Funny that you have to find a quiet place in a virtual scenario)

PS: Thanks for all your help! (I already found those bullet time clips by the way, the files are safe and sound on my hard drive)
