Stupid Virus.. any help?

Ok so i have this virus that makes windows pop up that display anti virus websites, it changed my registery so that i cant open up task manager, and it made it so my homepage is always a anti-spyware website... also it brings up windows security alerts that are frauds, it deleted my internet icon, killed my kitty, and made 3 icons on my computer that are werid and i cant erase them. Sorry for a long sentance lol. And when i say killed my kitty i mean literally because i used to have a kitty pop up in microsoft word and now he isnt there and i cant get him back. But that was probably me doing something stupid. Anyway, any help? I have McAfee anti virus but it doesnt pick anything up.. Hmm.. ideas?

System Restore is your friend. Start menu -> Help and Support -> Restore Your Computer. Choose a date before the infection, restart and hopefully you'll be free of it.

Yeah i was thinking the same thing, but unfortunatly system restore didnt have any points before the infection that i could restore to. Either the pc didnt save them, or the virus deleted them.

Format and reinstall. Seriously, that computer's boned. Even if you get everything back to relative normalcy, there WILL be back doors installed. And McAffee won't do shit to protect your computer.

it is free however Spybot is for Spyware/Adware not viruses i believe, also spybot seems to always find something on my pc, generally any advertising cookies which aren't necessarily harmful especially since i have firefoxed adblock anyway. So basically it may find quite a few cookies but not necessarily your virus.. Have you tried AVG 8.0 free edition? That's generally pretty good, installed it yesterday and it found some bad file or something that my older AVG and spybot hadn't.

Delicious virus. First, you'll have to kill MDM.exe, that's the thing that pops up Windows error boxes about anti-spyware software. The thing that kills your taskmanager is, if I remember correctly, a worm like thingy. Download some real anti-spyware, and get avast! anti-virus. By the way, stop surfing free porn sites. edit: or format your computer and from now on, get your porn somewhere safe.

By the way, stop surfing free porn sites. QFT. Porn and Limewire are the two single biggest malware sources. Seriously, though, I wasn't kidding about the reformat. You're not running Windows anymore, you're running an amalgamation of various adware programs which have replaced your system files. You can get rid of the nasty ones, but that computer will belong to the virus writers, not you unless you reinstall Windows entirely.

Get Avast antivirus, it's the best I know of.
