      Tips on resizing images?

I'm sure this is kids' stuff, but I use Paint Shop Pro and notice significant pixelation when I downsize images for use on the web. Any advice on ways to minimize this distortion?

I'm not sure what options Paint Shop Pro has, but look for a setting called "Bicubic Sharper" or the like in the resizing dialog. Also run a sharpening routine after resizing.

I've never had that problem with the GIMP when reducing canvas size. If you're using these images for the web, would I be right in saying that they're yours? (Okay, they could be pictures you found in the public domain, but if you created them and if they're not photos, read on) If so, you should teach yourself how to use a vector graphics program like Inkscape and avoid the hassels of resizing conventional bitmap images once and for all. An SVG (standard vector graphics) file stores instructions that create the image rather than specify the individual pixels. Not only does this make the image files much smaller, but it enables them to be resized to any resolution, including a larger resolution, without loss of quality.

Bicubic interpolation is what you want, you are probably doing nearest pixel or linear interpolation. It should be somewhere in the settings.
