      graphics card help please?

      I have Intel(R) 945 Express Chipset Family

I'm trying to update as much of what I have that I can.

I have this (Which is the latest one it seems). http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Deta...ition&lang=eng

I need to work on these things.

      • Software Rasteriser
      • Unsupported OpenGL Version
      • No Multi-Texturing
      • Insufficient Texture Units
      • No Extended Multi-Texturing

Is the texture problems something that is not down-loadable?

Any other updates that I need would be nice to know as well =).

I probably need a new graphics card but I don't think my laptop is capable of having that added into it (at least that is what I was told when I bought it.)

This is the computer I have. http://support.gateway.com/s/Mobile/...13924Rnv.shtml

Laptops are notoriously hard to upgrade, but as far as graphics capabilities, you are stuck with what you bought.

Sorry Can't really help you in this case.

It is pretty much a part of the chipset for the laptop's motherboard, not really a discrete card solution.

I think there are solutions coming to laptops such as external graphics cards, powered separately and connected via an external PCI-express connection via cable, but I have no heard much recently. Probably still a work in progress I guess.

consumer laptops are pretty much (save for RAM) non-upgradable
to save space & power, all components are integrated into the motherboard

laptops are just not designed for powerful graphics
(you don't really want the battery sucked dry in under an hour)

there are specialist laptops around with specially designed pluggable bits
but they're hugely expensive (the pluggable cards are custom made, so you can't just buy things off the shelf)
