      Free virus/spyware removal sites

I have gone to a site that does this before but I don't have the address anymore.

Does anyone know of a good virus/spyware scanner and removal website?

Firstly, what are you trying to remove?
You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.

I'm not sure what it is, my computer restarted on its hown (I didn't download anything but I'm guessing a website did that job for me without me knowing) and then I got a little thing on my tool bar now that says

"your computer is infected, windows has detected spyware infection blah blah blah...."

But then if I click on that it starts downloading something for the year 2009...

      AVG.com

You can downloard a demo good for 30 or 90 days, but reinstalling it should give you the same each time.

It worked for me, but it depends on how patient you are with the status messages as it can get annoying. Especially, reminding you when the demo is over.

Ok, well I tried downloading stopzilla, but then it told me to restart, I was weary of doing that but whatever I did and then when I tried to log back onto my computer it failed on me. It wouldn't even let me in so I did F11 for system recovery with back up files or whatever....

then it starts telling me Please wait while windows prepares to start............................................. ................

So now I'm qwiating for it to start up again, it is now detecting and installing software and such.

      You have malware Sandform

You really don't have anything wrong with your computer!

      I've been through it!

If you buy the software trojans get into the computer (no condom jokes please)

Something was wrong with my computer...it wouldn't log in anymore =-O

But anyway, I did system recovery and told it to make back ups of stuff, but I don't know how to access it.'

Btw I'm not talking about the regular system restore, I'm talking about down to the original roots kind of system restore.

Yeah cause when I say wont logg in I mean it gives me the option to sign in repetitively.

No, it tried to logg in but then went to a blue screen with white text giving me a list of useless information.

If you're getting the Blue Screen of Death, you may have to reinstall Windows.

That fixed my laptop when I had that problem.

Check out Avast. It has a free version and has removed trojans, adware, spyware, AV09, all kinds of crap. It is really good. I know of smart CP guys that haven't ever upgraded from the free version because it's caught stuff that brand names have overlooked.

Personally, I use AdAware and CCleaner. AdAware gets rid of spyware/malware/trojans and certain other files. CCleaner goes through your entire computer and cleans out unused file extensions, and random fragments of files that are no longer used, as well as unused registries. This really helps the computer to function much better, it usually ends up deleting like over a gigabyte of useless shit everytime I run it, which is about once every two months or so.

Also, I'm not sure if there's any backing for this, but I know in my personal experience, using it to clean out the registries has stopped a lot of annoying problems my computer used to have, and has made everything seem faster in general. When there's too much clutter, things start to fuck up, for whatever reasons I don't know.

forget the free stuff, they can only do so much.

you're better off getting the properly engineered software. and since "free" is an issue, get it through a torrent, along with a key generator (which is usually included in the torrent)
