      only if you have the backports on - most users don't (and shouldn't)

      default setup, it's more like once a week

      Also, updates are checked once a day automatically, anyway
      If there's any updates, an icon pops up in the notification area

      Yo, whenever I start Firefox, it tell me to restart it because there was an update, but I already did that. I don't get it, but it doesn't bother me much.

      never encountered this before,
      but seems there's a minor bug in ubuntu, where the firefox "needs restarting" flag gets stuck
