Posting a link to slashdot and then writing "discuss" should be ban reason. He could atleast post more than just one link with more information, some background on what ASP.NET MVC is, and perhaps his own feelings about this.

      To be honest,
if you want any sort of exposure, it makes sense to open source any programming frameworks you produce

      If you're making something important
(anything involving financial transactions, or controlling / monitoring expensive operations) you really, really want to have the source

You really don't want to be the admin of a closed system that breaks or needs maintenance

      - "It's broken, fix it"
      "erm, I can't"

      - "We need this feature added"
      "erm, I can't"

Having the source available is a prerequisite for any important, long-term project

of course, as usual, MS is late to the game

Ruby on Rails has been around for years now
and other languages have gained similar frameworks

Christ, the IT guys at the BBC released a "Perl on Rails" thing 18 months ago

Like most things MS, I'm sure it was created with the best of intentions by intelligent, hard working engineers
but in order to gain any traction this late in, they'll have to use underhanded tactics to lock people in, or it'll bomb

      As Wiki says:
"The ASP.NET MVC Framework is a Model-view-controller framework which Microsoft is adding to ASP.NET. It allows software developers to build a Web application as a composition of three roles: Model, View and Controller. A Model represents the state of a particular aspect of the application. Frequently, a model maps to a database table with the entries in the table representing the state of the table. A Controller handles interactions and updates the model to reflect a change in state of the application. A View extracts necessary information from a model and renders a user interface to display that."

I think opensourcing it is good. You can fix your own problems now instead of sending a pointless suggestion.
