Connecting two computers via phone line

Is it possible to do this?

Basically we have one computer in the middle room which has a wireless usb sprint aircard for internet connectivity.

The problem is i also want internet connectivity on my computer in my room. I have a phone cord that will reach both computers, is it possible for me to get internet access on my computer using a phone line. My ethernet cords won't reach into the other room, and I can't afford to buy a longer Ethernet cord right now.

      yep,
normal phone cable has 2 twisted pairs
bung a couple of RJ45 connectors on the ends
      and you'll have a CAT3 10mbps ethernet cable

so i have to cut off the connectors of the ethernet line and put them on the phone line? Is that complicated?

Is itpossible to just use the phone line? Both comptuers have a phone jack

If your current ethernet cables are dismantle-able then yes, you can use the connectors from the ethernet cable on the phone cable

but if not, you can buy RJ45 connectors for a few pence at your local computer bits shop (radioshack? I think that's the standard US computer bits shop?)

You could use the existing phone connectors and connect the machines over modems
but you'll have to setup dialup networking and it'll be dog slow

for the 10 mins it'll take to chop the connectors off, strip the wires back, crimp the wires to RJ45 (ethernet) connectors and snap the RJ45 connectors shut, it's worth making a home-made CAT3 cable
