      So...random persistent page loading problems.

So I keep randomly (not too often, but still) getting this odd problem that I've seen attributed to viruses or adware, however, as I've made as certain as one can be that my system is clean, I figured I'd post this here just out of curiosity of whether others have experienced this.

At random times while browsing online, Firefox (I'm using the latest 3.5.1 but this has been happening back in 3.0 too) starts loading pages but freezes up with only a small part of the page's content displayed and just stands there supposedly...

And it's that same link it loads every time this happens, so I'm guessing it might be a problem with ads rather than locally?
Because it's only sites that load the above link that end up not loading fully (YouTube among them). Others are fine during such "fits".
And more so, these "fits" last for quite some time and nothing I've tried locally seems to fix them until they vanish on their own.

So the question is...has anyone else ever encountered this?

I've had that happen once lately. Browsing on Google Chrome (latest version). I didn't go as far as to check the status bar, since it only happened once.

Well, I'm talking about when it happens persistently.
As in, no matter how many times you refresh, the sites still won't fully load.
And it takes ages of waiting (like half an hour) for them to come back to normal.

I've had times when a page wouldn't load at first but did after a refresh, but this is quite different, as it persists for ages.

I've had Google not load up at all for several times for prolonged periods of time, if that's of concern.

Google's main page has never failed to load on me actually...ever.

But at this very moment all sites that load "pagead2.googlesyndication.com" aren't loading past their header for me. As in, the top most part of the site (typically a banner and such) loads up and then the loading stops with the browser hanging there "waiting" for the aforementioned link.

      Curse you, Google Syndication!

P.S. At least Dreamviews is fine.

P.P.S. Found this blog entry about it. Says it can be fixed with an ad blocker. But that doesn't make much sense, the way I see it, as it isn't local. Can the browser just...drop loading something that's present within the page it's trying to load and proceed with the rest of the content?

Have you tried just using a different browser?

The ad blocker programs usually see "pagead2.googlesyndication.com" and just cue the browser to not load it because that domain is for advertising. For Firefox, I recommend Adblock Plus.
198.726% of people will not realize that this percentage is impossible given what we are measuring. If you enjoy eating Monterey Jack cheese, put this in your sig and add 3^4i to the percentage listed.

One the one hand, I can't stand addons and I don't like blocking ads since I want to see everything that's meant to be on any given page (but I suppose it can be limited to only filter this annoying link) but on the other...

      It's still happening!

That is, nearly 12 hours have passed and the sites are still not loading up completely.

Except now YouTube isn't loading fully because of the same link but others are not loading because of...

      bannerfarm.ace.advertising.com
Really wish there was a way to deal with this besides an addon.
Could it be some sort of DNS cache issues perhaps...?
      Bah, humbug.

      Go to Start>Run>Type in CMD>Enter>
      ipconfig /flushdns
      ipconfig /release
      ipconfig /renew
      ipconfig /flushdns

If it was DNS problems, it should clear them.
