      Angry Stupid Gmail

I went to sign in to my account today and it kept telling me the username and password combo weren't right. Which is bull. Anyway, I went and filled out this account recovery form thing. Later I got an email (to a diff account) from gmail saying that they couldn't find anything conclusive from their investigation and that they've disabled my account! And no info on when it'll be enabled again or anything.

I'm freaking out because I might have some VERY important emails in there waiting to be read. What do I do now? I can't even find a way to contact someone at gmail. All I can do is fill out stupid forms that don't have any fields where I can explain my situation correctly.

      Ack... any suggestions?

Email the people that you are expecting the important emails from, inform them that you are having technical problems with that email account, and request that they send any recent and future emails to your working account.

Beyond that, just wait I suppose. Hopefully the gmail folks will get it sorted out before too long.

Do you access your gmail directly or via outlook?

      Directly.

And I don't have the important email addresses memorized. BAAAAH. I really wish they had some kind of customer service hotline or something.. any way for me to speak to an actual human being.

Ugh I'm really freaking out. I hate not knowing when or how this is going to be resolved.

Surely you can find some way to reach these people, right? I mean, I'm assuming that some of these important emails are job related, so I would try to contact the people by any means necessary if a job offer was at stake. If it is a company, search their website or look up their phone number, call and ask a secretary for the specific person's phone or email... get creative.

      Good luck.

It's not that simple. This is someone from the middle of nowhere in South Korea. It will probably take a whole week for me to go through the steps of tracking that email address down, which is why I'm trying to ask if anyone has any ideas of how to resolve this issue - I hardly have a week!

Sorry I'm overreacting... in all probability it won't take more than 24 hours to resolve..

A bit extreme, perhaps, but try sending a one Eric E. Schmidt a call. The number I found is 650-623-4000, he's in California. Not positive that's correct, but it can't hurt to try. I say if you're going to complain, skip the little guy. Go straight for the balls of Google. That is, the CEO himself.

Two more numbers that may be more accurate/current: (650) 964-4017 and (650) 964-4018

If that doesn't work, Google any of the names on this list: http://www.google.com/corporate/execs.html

Sure, he's probably not going to be able to help you himself, but he's bound to know where to direct you.

that's not cool, they shouldn't just shut down your account after you asked them to get it back. I use g-mail and never had a problem but I'd be pissed if they did that too me.
