      Reformatting Computer without disk?

Is it possible to reformat a computer without the disk? I have an HP computer my OS is XP. Recently got a virus that is hellbent on installing shit on my computer. I know what file it is because of this program I have called game booster that closes unnecessary programs and there was a recent addition to the list that wasn't there yesterday. Unfortunately I can't just delete the file because the program seems to always be running...Pretty sure I need to reformat.

Impossible to reinstall an OS with a disk for it. The manufacturer should have given you a disc, if not call them. I'm fairly certain that the Microsoft license requires them to give you one.

If you know which file it is, you can try to boot the computer using a linux live cd or the like, and then delete the file as it won't be running.

I was able to use gamebooster to close the program which allowed me to delete it. My comp seems to be working alright although it's been having trouble booting.

EDIT: Now when I play games they seem to minimize themselves. I assume it's some sort of malware?
