So, I got a project to make a digital dice. Actually it is simulation of dice, the numbers will be showed on LED Display. When It's activated it is supposed to roll the numbers from 1 to 6 and stop on one of numbers. I need to use oscillator, counter and decoder. I don't want a done project, I want someone who has knowledge about this to give me some directions and advices, and I would also appreciate a chatting with person willing to help ( via MSN, DVChat, or whatever ). Every information will be useful, thanks in advance. |

A Johnson Counter, or ring counter, is very easy to use. It has 9 (or 10, doesn't matter) output legs for numbers. Each time it receives an impulse, the leg that is high changes. It has a reset leg, which resets the counter to the first leg when it goes high. The trick is to connect the 7th to the reset leg, so that when the 7th goes high, the counter resets to 0 (which is number 1, it is simply called 0). Now you simply connect all the legs to some LEDs, or perhaps a display. |
