      Buying a laptop.

      So, since I'm shipping off to college soon I figured that I should bite the bullet and buy a laptop. I want something that is powerful and will last me (hopefully) the full four/five years of undergrad schooling I'll have.

      I've been looking at this, http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+L...=1218124208054, but I'm open to suggestions as I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to performance computers.

      By powerful you mean you're going to be running programs that use alot of memory that looks good. 6gb ram is more then enough.

      What are you going to school for? That makes a big difference in what computer you need.

      Any type of art -> Macbook Pro
      Any type of business -> IBM, Asus
      Any type of engineering -> Macbook Pro or IBM/Dell with Linux installed

      I'll be majoring in either biology or microbiology. As of right now I'm leaning towards plain bio in hopes of getting accepted into a medical school.
