      Computer Failing

Is there any sort of program I can run that will track the performance of all the important parts of my computer or something, and save them in a file that I can open up after my computer fails?

I've begun having the same problem again, where my computer randomly shuts off during games like The Sims 3, Starcraft 2, and L4D2. I took it to a repair shop, and they had it running on diagnostics for a weekend straight and couldn't find a problem, they couldn't make it crash. But when I play these games, occasionally the whole system just randomly fails. Starcraft 2 worked perfect again there for a little while, then randomly the computer failed a night or two ago while I was on it. Now it's working again supposedly, because I played it for like 45-60 minutes without crashing the computer. Then today, my sister tried to play the Sims 3 on it, and within moments the whole computer crashed again. It's aggravating because the tech people at the shop don't have a clue what's wrong with it, nor do I, and they can't seem to make it fail. They told me it seems like it's in perfect condition, which clearly it is not. So is there anything I can run that will be able to tell me what's failing on my computer at the time of crashing?

      http://www.cloudantivirus.com/en/

      or

      http://www.immunet.com/

Try one of these two programs, most of the time the password stealing programs will crash your game so you have to log in and type the password again.

      You can also use,

      &
      http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

      Good luck.

I'm fairly sure it's not a virus. It doesn't just crash my game, it crashes my entire computer. Would a trojan really shut off your entire computer? Regardless, I scan with NOD32 fairly regularly, and I did so only about 2 days ago and it found nothing. Should NOD32 have found this trojan if that is indeed what it is, or do I have to download these programs?

CPUID isn't working for me for some reason, it freezes when it gets to "Monitoring" in it's initial scans. I had to shut down the computer and everything to get it to stop running, end process wasn't even working on it, and even the computer I had to force shut down because it just wasn't responding for some reason. So, I think CPUID is out of the question.

I'm not sure what the other one could do for me anyway, and I don't have a validation number anyway. I need something that can keep a log of all the hardware I have running, and see what it is that's failing me, if such a thing exists.

Thanks for your help though, I appreciate it. I'm starting to get pissed off though, just when I thought this shit was fixed, after I paid 40 bucks to get it fixed, and it starts back up again.... It just seems like its never ending with this crap.... Thinking of saying screw it, and just buying a brand new computer, but that's probably stupid....

NOD32 is not full proof, also some will shut down the PC

I would not give up on it as it could be something as simple as a faulty wire in the computer or the graphics card not sitting right, it may even be your CPU malfunctioning since CPU-Z is crashing it, and games use a big chunk of the CPU.

Try this, run an automatic torture test, if your computer crashes quickly or it brings up an error that means your CPU is faulty and it needs changing

Alright, which torture test should I be using, and for roughly how long? I've let the "In-place Large FFTs (max heat, power consumption, some RAM tested)" run for about ten minutes now.

I'll try one of the other anti-virus when I get back home here in a bit.

Edit: Alright, Immunet didn't find anything either, so I don't think it's a trojan. Fuuuuck. I really wish it was as simple as a virus....

I ended up leaving the torture test I mentioned above running for about 20 minutes, and my computer was still running cool and problem free.

Hmmm, well if you have done the torture test, let it run for 2 hours, if it is fine after that you can rule your CPU+RAM out of the picture.

Just use the standard test when the program opens up.
