Unhappy HELP: Clearing my mind during sleep paralysis

How does one "clear" their minds in the process of inducing SP?
I have experienced mild SP with feelings of being a blob, and involuntary twitching of random limbs and such, but never hearing any noises or experiencing HI. I believe my active mind is whats keeping me from advancing any further in SP and Lucid Dreaming for that matter. Does anyone have any advice for "clearing" your mind?
I find that trying to think of nothing requires a lot of thinking of what nothing really is..

I know your question is about clearing your mind but I need to point something out. Any hallucination you experience is a normal part of entering sleep paralysis. It's not a issue and nothing to be worried about.

As for keeping your mind clear. My first tip is don't try to WILD if you're very stressed. This will be very detrimental to your attempt.

Other than that just breathe deeply and imagine your thoughts floating away into the sky.

Don't think of nothing. That is a connundrum, rather...listen... or watch. With your attention on your experience it your mind will be silent. Don't expect something to happen, that is thinking. When you listen to your favorite song you are just enjoying listening without wanting the song to hurry up an end. Patient observation, but be relaxed and vigilant, not tense and vigilante. Just enjoy sleep paralysis. Watch, listen, feel the sensations, etc.... Maybe even loosen the reins on your mind, let it wander and drift as long as it doesn't fall asleep on you. But let it hover near the sleep threshold. You will find that "Hey! I just became aware that I had a mini-dream, but I wasn't aware!" It is like as soon as you realize that you are dreaming you wake up slightly. That is ok, this is just the beginning. You will dip back and forth across the border of dream/unlucidity and dreamless/wakeful mind. But just be patient and shorten the frequency of the wave. It will even out if you practice.

Alternatively you can gently focus on a part of your body and try to conjure sensation there. Like your third eye, your heart, your throat, etc. Interestingly, concentrating on conjuring sensation on your penis works very well for quieting the mind. As your skill in concentration progresses, you can concentrate amazingly and stay relaxed at the same time. Most people "try to hard" and this is not how you quiet your mind.

Passive thinking and watching of the show behind your eyelids is key. Only switch to active thinking and involvement once your body has fallen asleep.
Things are not as they seem
