      Post Am I Almost There?

So, after a long period of disinterest in lucid dreaming, I decided to try that WILD that I used to have tons of trouble with. I woke up at around 5:00 AM and laid down on my back after turning on my computer and surfing for about 10 minutes. After a while, I had the fast heartbeat hallucination, thought nothing of it, and kept focusing on my breathing. When that was over, I kept laying down and my body became numb over a period of time. I opened my eyes for a few seconds about 5 times, and noticed that small colored dots were floating in my vision. I then made the error fatal to this attempt; I got up from my bed. This is because nothing really happened. I tried to visualize a few different places such as a beach or an empty house beforehand, but nothing worked. Any advice on how to transition?

Sounds like you have reached hypnagogic state, there are some advices on transitions in this thread: http://www.dreamviews.com/wake-initi...ntry-wild.html .
Also for how long that attempt was and were you sleepy enough to fall asleep? Don't forget that goal of WILD is to fall asleep while being aware, not to stay awake.

I would have fell asleep if I knew that's what I had to do. I assumed that it just snapped into a dream, but it doesn't. The attempt took about one hour and thirty minutes.

Great job, those colours were actually from hypnagogia.

Next time you see those colours DON'T MOVE. Just wait until the dreamlets appear.

Sure thing! I'm going to guess that dreamlets are small parts of dreams?

One hour and thirty minutes is a little bit to long indeed.
I usually stop my attempts if i can't fall asleep within 30-40 minutes or so of not being able to fall asleep, which means i am too awake at this point to try WILDing.
And yes, when dream starts forming you can use one of methods in the link i posted before to enter WILD.
