      In & Out of SP

So last night I halfway woke up while still in SP. I would slowly come out of it, and then go back into it consciously, repeatedly going in and out. Every time I was in SP, I visualized a dream scene, but could never transition or really get any visuals. Any help with transitioning into the dream from here? I cannot seem to get that last step.

My experience is, if I wake up from a dream and still feel SP, the only chance is to immediately DEILD, which should take about 10 seconds at most. Any longer than that and I've missed the window of time to extend that REM cycle. Trying to maintain the SP feeling longer than that will just be uncomfortable. So if I can't DEILD, then it's best to just shake off the SP feeling. Being awake and moving for a bit, even just rolling over, will prepare you for the next sleep cycle. Wait a bit until you feel the strong pull of sleepiness. Only then start a new, separate, WILD attempt.

Now, it's different if you go from wake to SP. That's the usual WILD technique. What you described seems to be going from sleep to SP, which is where you get stuck. So, wake up fully first. Maybe journal and WBTB for a short time. Then let the natural process of going back to sleep begin. And only then, try the usual WILD techniques like anchoring to guide you into a new dream scene.

I am sure about illusion. I am not so sure about reality.

Thanks, I'll give that a try next time!
