Is there any reason I can't do this?

As a lot of you may know, I'm new to this whole lucid dreaming scene. However, undaunted, I persist and attempt new things in spite of the lack of results.

My question is whether or not there is any reason why someone who has never experienced an LD couldn't at the very least feel the precursor affects of SP?

      Am I too ambitious, here?

There is a chance that you will not feel anything during Sp, some people don't. Everybody is different with lucid dreaming so you may not experience the same thing somebody else does. It may also take you a little more practice to experience something.

Doubting youself (as you are now) is probably one the the biggest reasons why you aren't getting the results you desire. Then, you have to be aware that it can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, to possibly a year or two for some people to have their first conscious LD. Of couse, the average time is around one to three months, but it vastly depends on innate ability, and practice. I don't have SP when I WILD, just HI.

You should just sit still and (as nearly every person will tell you) relax, and wait, but don't focus too hard or try too hard. The relaxation and HI will come. You will probably snap out of your trance the first few times due to excitement, but the more you do it the calmer you will remain while it happens.

If you honestly practice regularly ( <- this is key) and believe that you can do it, which you can, then you will get the results you want within a reasonable period of time.

HA, the title of the thread is misleading. It was supposed to be about a hypothetical attempter who hasn't had and LD and any reason he/she couldn't do it.

I, personally, KNOW I will succeed...at some point, but I am a very feedback based person and only need the slightest hint of the process working in order to be motivated to continue indefinitely. But therein lies the problem, I don't know what SP is like (for me. In general, I have a pretty good idea) and I didn't know whether or not having and remembering any kind of LD was a prerequisite.

If oyu think you are in SP, then simply try to move. If you can, you're obviously not in SP. Personally, I wouldn't try to look out for SP, as it's not something you should focus on. Seeing HI means you are closer to entering a dream that SP, usually.

no, don't try to move, just be still and wait, i know it is hard, but if you focus on what is happening, it just makes it slower. Sp feels weird so you will know. the thing that got me was my face itching, guess i need to shave
