      First WILD

      Greetings Dream Friends!

I had my first successful WILD last night after a month-with no LDs at all. Here's the report:

I have tried WILD several times without success. I normally sleep on my side so I did my prior WILD attempts on my back. But I just never went to sleep that way, even after a couple hours. And that gets really uncomfortable, which makes sleep even less likely. It seems like the successful WILD walks a narrow line between wakefulness and sleep. I decided I needed to move more toward the sleepy end of the spectrum. So I laid on my side and adopted the normal "going to sleep" mental attitude of surrender, BUT I kept some conscious awareness going by repeating the mantra "I am dreaming" along with my breath. I would just barely lose the mantra and then come back, lose it and come back. So it seems I was skirting the line between barely conscious and unconscious. I don't know how long this went on, but not long. Maybe twenty minutes. Then very suddenly my body began to vibrate violently, the room filled with sounds, some animal poked me in the back with its snout and then wrapped its furry body all around me and then I knew I was in the dream state. My dream body sat up in bed and I opened my eyes to the lucid dream world.

Since this is my first success, I don't know that I can draw any conclusions. But it seems like each person probably needs to fine tune their method to their own individual needs so they get as close as possible to unconsciousness without stepping over. If you lie awake for two hours, change something to move toward the sleepy side. If you lose consciousness right away, move toward the more conscious end.

      My two cents.

Congrats! I'm still trying to have my first WILD. I wondered if that was my problem too, trying to sleep on my back and not being sleepy enough. I would lay there two hours and nothing would happen. I'm going to try depriving myself of sleep a few nights.

Great job on your success =].

When people attempt WILD, they tend to forget that they need to fall asleep, therefore they ruin it by doing a bunch of other stuff that will keep them awake!! Once people understand this I'm sure there will be more threads like this 1! I get sleep paralysis by switching positions every 5 minutes, which sounds crazy to some because the accepted method is to "stay still completely" until it hits you. There is no right way to WILD, you just have to find what works for you. I'm glad you have. Good luck =]
      Lucid dreams, gotta love em.

Congradulations! I am still trying to WILD. I have had 11 DILDs though! I had 5 of them this morning! Read it here: http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=91203

I almost did WILD this morning. I got into SP within 20 minutes, but fell asleep before I entered the dream conscionsly. Probably because I was tired. Yea, I find it easier to get into SP if you are physically tired.
