      Scrolls Oblivion

I just purchused this game and I must say, I am hooked. It is so neat, and it is actually the only game I have ever seen ( other than Doom 3) that actully looked like the screenshots. I am excited about this, as I was a big Morrowind fan when it came out. Anyway, what do you guys think?

I think its going to be getting some amazing reviews from all the major game sites.
On gamespot, over 60 percent of the people that reviewed it (and there were alot)
Gave it a perfect 10. And another 30 percent gave it 9 or above. Keep us informed on how it go's!

But yah very anticipated game, I bet its amazing! I cant wait to see it reviewed by the actual review sites. I might just buy it.

I same some screenshots. The grapics are the best I have ever seen. :0

Is it an console game only? Or can you allso play it on the PC? And if it's a MMORPG, do ya have to pay? ^_^

Anyhow, seems like it's more addictive then heroin ^__^

It's single player? lol, like 99% of the RPG's released since WOW is an MMORPG ^__^

But that isn't bad. I heard it's crazily HUGE.

To bad I would have to play it in low settings, and laggy probably

See, as far as RPG's go, I don't personally think there's actually BEEN a good old, traditional RPG since the Baldur's Gate series... I loved that game. Still do. Everything since has simply been dungeon-crawls, freeform or not. I've yet to see another game that had the same... character dynamic and good writing that the Baldur's Gate series did.

Until the gaming industry can come up with something as truly great as the BG series, I'm afraid they've lost me. I simply don't have the time anymore.

I WANT IT SOO FRIGGIN' BAD! Unfortunately, my computer is cheap as hell and it's going to cost about $130 just to bring it up to minimum specs, $200+ to get it to recommended. And I don't have a 360, so I'm just screwed!

Currently need 768 Mb more RAM to meet recommended, and a new graphics card (ATI x800+ or GeForce 6800+). RAM runs about $30 for 256, and that'd bring that up to minimum, but the graphics card's going to be EXPENSIVE. And I don't currently have a job...

EDIT: Checked online. 512MB RAM will only run me $40 after some looking, but a graphics card is going cheap if it's under $150.

Different style of RPG, you can't really compare it. No parties, a story line that can go on for freakin' ever, but isn't really necessary to play the game. You can go and complete the story line, or you can be a freelance warrior or a bandit or an assassin, whatever.

hm. im always wary of games that boast "incredible graphics"-- to be honest, i'm kind of bored with the recycled look of every single game being made nowadays. they put way too much effort in trying to make the game visually enticing, leaving much to be desired in terms of gameplay, story, puzzles, etc. i miss games like the old-school rpgs: kings quest, hero's quest, rosella, etc. good ol' windows 3.1

Hey, mongreloctopus, ever played the Baldur's Gate series? Sounds like it would be WAY up your alley. Because, I'm TOTALLY agreeing with what you said above...

i have not, but i have often thought about giving it a shot. i have a mental aversion to commitment, so it's no easy task...but maybe i'll just take the leap.

also, probably my favorite RPGs were fallout and fallout2, and i pray to jesus® everynight that fallout 3 will soon be in my grasp.

I agree, grapics are really the least thing that is important in a game. The last few years I am only player game I know that are good, or just old games.

I mean nothing beats playing half life 1 again, or quake 1 ^__^

The previous Elder Scrolls games have been anything BUT solely graphics-focused. The story line isn't absolutely jaw-dropping, but it's most certainly above average. Mostly, though, the side-quests will have you drooling. Morrowind, for example. I've never completed the storyline, but I've logged nearly 100 hours. I've just played to complete sidequests and explore. Honestly, the sheer SIZE of the world alone is enough to amaze me, and the fact that it's crammed full of side-quests, buildings, NPC's and more is absolutely enticing.

With years passing, it's getting immposible to play all games, to see all movies, to listen to all music ever made.

I mean movies and music Is possible, if you have no life, to see/hear most of it.

But games... some games alone would use up 1000 hours to totally get though. But some (MMO)RPG's can take 10 times more time to truely 'complete'. If possible.

However, with RPG's my problem is: I have to complete the game. I have to do it. I have to keep on playing. And RPG's bore me quickly, so if I start one halfway I am like: OMG WHY AM I PLAYING.

But it's really the coolest thing to realise in a game that it's just amazingly HUGE, like a real other world...

Bla, the grapics only enhance that feeling, not create it.

I have been playing this game for a few days (about 11 hours in all) and it has great charicter dynamics and some neat quests. Actually, a lot of thought went into this game. In the game Morrowind, the plot of this game was taking place far away in a different land, though you only hear talk of it in that game. It's as if you switch places. It's really neat. That's just my two cents.

Hmph. Well, you've got me interested, Gwen. I'll read some reviews at university tomorrow. (What? You think I should WORK at university? Pffft...)

The thing is, though, playing ANY new game for me at the moment is gonna involve two things: Time and Money.

The second is a big enough problem, but not... insurmountable...

The first I have in short supply: I'm trying to spend all my spare time reading and writing, but between writing, reading, gym, university, dreaming, and the forums, and my (lack of a) social life, I find I have f$%*-all time as there is. Playing games as well? I'm trying to get motivated at the moment, to stop slacking off and wasting time, and instead spend time efficiently. IF I can do that, then I may have time...

But otherwise... well, maybe in the holidays...

Well, your money problem could be solved by....downloading the game. The disks aren't copy protected and will most likely be on the net. If you don't have time though, I wouldn't do it. Damn, I won't even play a game if I have something to do later, because I get so addicted, it's a bitch to have to get off of the game.

Yeah, it's online. I'd give sites, but I'd strongly suggest that if you're going to spend the time playing the game, go out and BUY IT. The company that made it has always done amazing games, and it's only right to support them for it. I was actually about thirteen percent done downloading the 4.5 GB file before I decided that I'd just go and buy it, since it was only fair...

Anyway, I know what you mean about time issues. I'm facing the same troubles now, trying to keep up with three upcoming major tests (AP exams for college credit), plus tons of senior project-type homework assignments. Between that, working and school, I've got hardly any time to play games.
