Lucid fades before I can stabalise

Hi there, another long time reader, first time poster here.

I have found MILD to be pretty effective for me, 3 LD's in the last 2 days (I know its early days to say it works well for me) but it has worked better than any other technique I've tried.

The problem I have now is that as soon as I become lucid, perform an RC and start stabilising, the dream fades. I have had a few lucid dreams before and can control getting too excited that I am dreaming. I just have no clue now on why the dreams are fading as soon as I become lucid.

I was wondering if anyone has had the same experience and could offer ideas on how to get past it so I can actually enjoy doing things in my lucids.

      Icon, welcome to DV!

I've had one or two lucids where I've lost the dream before I'm able to stabilize. My advice would be to not get excited when you become lucid. This might be hard, but if you keep trying, you'll get used to the feeling when you become lucid, and you'll be able to stabilize without losing the dream before you even get a chance. Remember when you stabilize, to focus on any sensations that you should experience from what you're doing. For example, licking the floor would taste horrible, and you would feel the texture of whatever you're licking (someone I know licked the floor once to stabilize).

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask, or send me a private message .

      Thanks for the quick reply

Another question I have which I might as well ask here instead of making another thread is with DEILDs, what should you think about when you are lying there not moving?

The dreams which fade let me make sure I don't open my eyes or move. I have had quite a few of these and no matter what I think about, no scene forms around me, no SP or HH, just blackness until I get bored of waiting and open my eyes.

You should try to allow your mind to relax, but at the same time think about staying aware and entering a lucid dream. When you want to have a DEILD, you never leave SP, so don't think about staying in SP, just allow it to pull you into the dream. And don't focus on getting HH; sometimes you don't have it, sometimes you do, but you should just allow it to come, rather than expecting it to come.

Try letting yourself come out of it, then using the DIELD technique to go back in. It's called dream chaining and it's how I accomplish stability.
