I... Hate... The... Media...

I swear, I hate mass media. I have literally felt like doing drastic things before because of all this **** coming out of the TV. Cant people see they are just sucking at a teat? I was just glancing at People magazine in the checkout aisle and there was the whole Texas Polygamy Scandal "Inside the Cult" thing, and I realized, that's just what people want, inside the cult. All the horrible things unveiled, talking with their friends about how horrible it is, mass expose, curiousity, flipping open the magazine and seriously expecting yourself to have nothing to do with it even though you are tentatively reading every word. You're interested, but you claim "Oh my God, how horrible." You literally buy the magazine to sit down and step inside someone's life with a critical eye.

Now, regardless of your views on polygamy, you want to know. I am not endorsing polygamy, I am just saying, you need to know everything, and anything you don't makes you angry. Seriously, do you know what we look like to the government? We probably look like a teeming mass of people that are so easily provokable that they can't have anything get out. I am not talking about atrocities of war, I am talking about matters of National Security, that the media would eat up given a chance, sending (negotiations for example) into total and complete chaos and causing a war. Now, Watergate was bad, but honestly, the (hopeful) moral integrity of government should stop these things from happening. And I HATE how the government has to feed us scapegoats to keep us from impeaching people and having violent protests. I mean, jeez, look at Vietnam, there were scapegoats by the bucket and the public cried for more, and they spat on soldiers that were drafted in the military and outlived all their best friends.

The media just caters to us all, and it gets ugly really fast. Famous celebrities have their lives torn apart by people who need to fill in the empiness and dullness of their life with someone elses. And when we see false advertising, we call for people's heads. We are honestly the most fickle... jeez, I can't believe this. The internet makes it worse, because people use their anonymity to say ugly, ugly things on YouTube and News websites... etc. spouting profanity, racism...

Advertising, scandals, expose's, marketing, commercials, in-depth coverage, secret lives, suicide attempts, rehab clinics, magazines, sell, sell, sell, reality TV, special features, sensationalism, false advertising, lawsuits, custody cases, outcries, "police brutality,"

I think we are smart on an individual level, but as a whole, we are the dumbest (I don't usually cuss) fuckers life has ever seen.

I am just going to stop talking now, because I could go on and on.

Haha, isn't ironic that he's ranting about the media, and here you are, advertising a band that you want him to listen to?

Media is a business. They spin everything depending on what will make people buy newspapers and watch TV. It's called "money". I fail to encompass how the words "Media" and "truth" are connected.

They are exploiting human nature. One aspect of human nature is a psychological reaction to bad things called "morbid curiosity", sometimes referred to as “Car Crash Syndrome” (named because it is supposedly impossible to ignore such events). It is an instinctive interest in all things harmful, physical and emotional, and death or danger. It is used by the media to get us to read their stories.
