      Re: flash?

Holy crap, that's so weird! I have flash and know my way around fairly well, but I'm by no means an expert. How did you get that cool glow effect around the text like that?

...I don't think I'll be able to fall asleep after seing that...ever.

Aside from that though install Flash MX of the latest version and go through the tutorials within it. They'll teach you what you need to know to start off. After that it's a matter of being experienced in either illustration to create something truly original or object oriented programming (to use Actionscript be it with your own original drawings or images imported into flash) in order to create something ineractive/dynamic.

the glowing text effect? well i wrote down some text in key frame one and then inserted another key frame in one abit down. then i created another a bit farther down the timeline. then click on the first text go to filters glow put mangnetude down to zero with the color of you choice then go to the midddle one and do the same but make the magnetude so you can see the effect. then go to the last one and put the effect in again at magnetude zero. then creat a motion tween between the first and 2nd and the 2nd and first,

I've used Flash a lot, but I haven't made anything in a long time. My advice would be to use the snap-to-objects feature and the whole bend lines and stuff. That helps to make a lot of things look better.

Believe me, mine are about 2x worse than that.
Here is the one that I did start to work on, and it was suppose to be based on a person having a WILD and completing various Lucid Tasks of the Month, but I quit, as it sucked as it was, and I just ran out of time to do it:
      http://img380.imageshack.us/my.php?image=l...deopart23il.swf

It is pretty bad, I agree, but I am not really working in Flash much anymore (I am working in Blender now).

Um, it makes it so that when your drawing anything, if you place it near another object, it will automatically attach to that object. For example, draw a box. Then draw a line that starts in the middle of nowhere, and the other point is touching a corner of the box. If you have the snap to objects thing on, then it'll be easy, otherwise it might seem like they're touching, when they're really not.

Another thing you should try to get used to is clipping. And since you're probably unsure of what I mean, I'll just give you another example, instead of trying to explain it. Just draw two lines that cross each other. Then click on one of the lines. It should select only the part of that line which crossed over the other one. Then delete that segment, and see how it makes more like a "T" look. You can use that idea with making a lot of things.

And if you don't know how to turn the snap thing on and off, I think you hit Ctrl+Shift+/ to toggle it. I'm not positive about that. If not, just look in the drop down menus, it's in there somewhere.

Or....you could just make another layer, and put the drawings in them!

Here's one of mine. It's not complete either, mind you:

      http://img483.imageshack.us/my.php?image=c...opertest1cw.swf

The clock in for that was 2 and a half hours.

I'd show you a terrific one that my friend and I are working on, but it's kind of a "hidden" project.

Actually, it was off to an alright start. Having the person fade into the dream with the rocket countdown was a cool idea. The main problem were those shape tweens... They always look bad.

Cool. Nice snow effects. I'll have to steal them if I ever include snow in a flash.

Should I quit on this music video while I am ahead? I think so...I am still only a rookie, and my movies all suck!

Here is what I was going to include:
Person on Satellite flying to the moon, shattering a mirror and looking at the shards on it, then grabbing a piece of the sun and flying back to earth with it.
The Person finds themself inside an airplane skydiving, and then morphing into a dolphin, swimming and talking with another dolphin.
The person then asks someone, "Who am I? Where am I?" Then the person gives him/her an apple tray to bob for carmel apples.
Then the person goes dumpster driving on Lucid Street, and after doing many more tasks, the person goes to the Dreaming and Beyond street. He/She then sees a mirror reflecting his/her bedroom, an hour glass saying what is going to happen. He/She then feels a tap on her shoulder, and sees a familiar face, and runs off with her, and more tasks are completed. When the music ends, the person wakes back up in bed.

Unfortunately, I am still quite a rookie.

Well if you just give up and say to yourself "I suck" then you'll never get better at it. Go for it. Make the movie. For a rookie, it's not really that bad. Your problems lie mainly on the technical side. Drawings and animation could use much improvement. The ideas are good, and fortunately, having good ideas is more important than technicalities when it comes to making a good movie.

Are you sure? It is already bad as it is, and I am nothing compared to many of the students in my MM2 class.

And I can't make it until later, as I have finals this quarter, but maybe I might make that, or a 3d movie in the summer time.
