Hey everyone,
About five months ago I severed the tendons in each of my first three fingers of my right hand. Doing this helped me to finally give up smoking Marijuana, break up with my partner and move back in with my family on the other side of Australia so it was coupled with intense dream activity, something I had been missing for three years. I am right handed so unfortunately (so it seemed) I could not capture this dream resurgence using my usual method; the simple written Dream Journal.
Not being able to dream meant that I was generally not able to have Lucid Dreams, which have always been a passion of mine. So, if I was to give up weed, then I NEEDED to dream well, so I ended up getting a digital dictaphone to ensure better recall through journaling.
I discovered that talking the dreams out when I woke was HIGHLY effective for me and I haven't reverted back to writing since, although I now use the audio as a draft and elaborate and refine using a written journal.
So, five months on my hand has regained about eighty percent function again and I have gone over these landmark dreams in a novel way; I have taken the audio and layered it over music so that it is in time and flowing.
I have just finished my first CD containing nineteen dreams in the order that I recorded them, to the tune of selected Boards of Canada songs. This has been a very enjoyable exercise in 'honouring the dream' so I thought I'd post the tracks here, for anyone who might be interested in listening to them.
For the last couple of nights I have fallen asleep listening to these tracks and it has been really interesting and… “unifying” would be a good word for it.
Please note that I was quite sick for most of these dreams and they were often recorded early in the morning (usually between 2:00am and 7:00am) so please excuse my voice when you think it needs excusing.
Please feel free to comment on anything regarding any of the tracks (sound, music, dream meaning/interpretation, &c.)
Dae,
Rob.
P.S. I am continuing this process with the next set of dreams and would appreciate any suggestions for music that would be appropriate. Thanks.
It would seem that the files are far too big. I didn't realise there was a 500 k limit. I thought I heard of people posting their music on this forum before. Does anyone know how?
Thanks,
Rob.
