A little something I've come up with in the last two weeks. Just finished writing/sequencing it. It's the first time I've ever done something like this and I was on a time limit, so it's not really perfect. Let me know what you all think...

Since the one thing we can say about all fundamental matter is that it is vibrating, and since all vibrations are theoretically sound, then it is not unreasonable to suggest that the universe is music and should be perceived as such.

I feel like I'm playing the original warcraft. All that corny film-scoring type music mixed with midi goodness. Lot's of interesting ideas here, though. What are you using to sequence/write this?

on a side note. Your sig doesn't make sense. Noise is not equal to music. Also, there is no noise in space, seeing as though there is no medium for the vibrations to travel through.

      Corny?

Well...that explains why it took so long for somebody to make a reply here then...

I used a handful of programs to do this:

      Anvil Studio
      Cantabile
      Sound Forge 6
      Audacity
      DrumSite

I used the 2-week trial of Synful Orchestra to sequence the string and wind instruments, and various samples for the percussion.

Ha. I was waiting for somebody to comment on my sig. I didn't make that up. It's a saying of Pascal that I think is pretty interesting.

Couldn't you just use, say, Finale or Sibelius?! Haha.

Honestly, though, you do have that old school fantasy game sound going on. It's a bit over done and not very creative. You obviously have a fine grasp on theory and the structure of this style of music. Kudos for that. Film scoring might be for you!

Yeah, I suppose it's an interesting quote. Still full of holes, heh.

      My 2 cents...

Things I liked; the motif overall, the ostinato pattern the strings have at the beginning, different harmonizations of the motif.

Things I didn't like so much; the percussion (just sounds really 'unsymphonic&#39, and that one piano part. Lack of development. The motif was (according to my ears) developed only twice (I like the first development), but it never became anything more. I was hoping the motifs would come together in a theme

The section with the piccolos and strings with the short descending passages didn't seem in place. It was rhythmically unstable, and didn't lead to the closing section; usually there is a recapulation of the motif before the closer.

That was your first time orchestrated anything ever? It was pretty good if so! Keep studying, your technique will improve!

I know the percussion sounds really different. I like my music to sound different. I used more latin percussion and things that you don't usually here in this type of music.

I know the structure really sucks, but I only had a week to write it. For me, writing something that's actually good usually takes me at least two weeks unless I'm really getting into it.

I believe you mean melody (not motif) and recapitulation (not recapulation).
