Thread: Intuition and artists -- your thoughts

Hello all,

I am writing a book about music composition and the subconscious. I'd like some thoughts and opinions from anyone regarding the following question:

Assuming an artist is well-versed in the theory and craft of their art, what is the role of intuition when he or she creates? Can intuition take one beyond the confines of one's own knowledge, or is this just experimental play?

Any thoughts on this at all would be appreciated.
