Marica
Give me some task to do
To distract my thoughts from you:
One eye green,
Faded jeans and one untied shoe.
Always looking at yourself
Each time you pass your reflection,
Checking yourself for stray curls
With every meticulous inspection.
As you walk by me
I watch you even more;
You move just like water,
Quenching a thirsty shore.
I try not to stare,
So I look at the floor.
But something caught your eye:
The mirror on your door.
Perfidious circle of glass,
Intended for self-admiration
Has reflected two things just now -
Your beauty and my humiliation:
Two eyes of mossy brown
Meet one eye green
In the mirror of treachery
I was caught admiring you.
a/n: true story btw...quite embarassing .
