So I got a guitar a few weeks ago as a late birthday present, plus an amp, string (Broken two already) an electric tuner (That I don't use) picks, and a little book with lessons in it to play. I got a bit down on the notes, right, and I started checking out some Tabs on the 'Netz to see how I fare, and, I can decently strum the strings and hold and switch notse, start testing them out and do okay, until I try to do some of the chords. My FSM, I cannot figure out how to hold my fingers over the frets correctly! () I'm trying to do these chords: e|--6---4---6------1-----------------------------------------------------------| B|--7---4---6------2-----------------------------------------------------------| G|--8---4---6------3-----------------------------------------------------------| D|--8---6---8------3-----------------------------------------------------------| A|--6---6---8------1-----------------------------------------------------------| C|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------| Help pleeze?

Those are Bar chords. Here are two good tutorials on bar chords: Bar Chords, pt 1 Bar Chords, pt 2 And your 6th string (the thickest one) should be tuned to E, not C.

If i were you i'd start out with some more basic chords until your fingers become accustomed to the strings. But anyway those chords would be played by barring your first finger across the strings E to A on the 6th fret (on the first chord for example), and then using your 2nd finger to play the 7 and 3rd and forth finger for the two 8s.
