      THE CHUB

(note: Wrote this yesterday during my lunch hour. I'll add piano to it at some point when I get unlazy. WARNING: the first 2 stanzas SUCK ASS, but the rest gets a bit better...I'll fix them at some point.)

Love and hate, and hate and love,
It’s heads or tails I see.
But I never knew it was 50/50
      Until you argued with me.

Was it always this black & white,
Or was there an in between?
      Well, maybe you’re just colorblind
To the spectrum of options unseen.

And now the dreamers and schemers of love
Sleep on a bed of stones…
Until the soft morning sun shines from above
And chills their poor tired bones.

It hurt at first, but I turned away.
      Thought I could manage alone.
But all I achieved was a much deeper wound,
To freeze with the hearts and the bones.

      From another point of view
      It’s an entirely different game.
Instead I was the hurtful one,
And I am the one to blame.

So the dreamers of love continue to dream
And sleep on a bed of stones…
Until the soft morning sun shines from above
And chills their poor tired bones.

So what happened? What went wrong?
You told me before, but I forgot.
Something to do with “You don’t understand,”
Or the “you have’s and the I have not’s.”

Maybe you just got scared of it all
When you dreamt of the snow and the sun.
I guess I had hoped my persistence was gold
And your faith would eventually be won.

Morbidly deeper the dreamers of love
Sleep on their bed of stones…
Until the soft morning sun shines from above
And chills their poor tired bones.

      Maybe you’re right and I don’t understand,
All I ever saw was the door
With a sign on it reading “no dreaming aloud”
So what the hell is dreaming for,

If not for loving and hoping for love,
And loving and hoping some more?
      But I guess one day we awake anyway;
“The joke is on you” reads the sign on the door.

The dreamers and schemers of love in vain
Sleep on a bed of stones…
Until the soft morning sun shines from above
And chills their poor tired bones.

Biggest mistakes that I ever made
      Were from not listening enough.
The experienced lovers have all the right ways,
They know love don’t have to be tough.

So what makes them so damn smart?
What do they have that we lack?
Just years I guess, and scrutinized advice
And the knowledge of no turning back.

Silently still the dreamers of love
Sleep on their bed of stones…
Until the soft morning sun shines from above
And chills their poor tired bones.

So dynamic is this old rock
Never two days are the same
Yet fools believe that love is a constant
And so did I, what a shame who’s to blame?

I thought waking hearts had it much better,
So I thought I’d explain in this song.
But sometimes it’s sunny at 2am.
      And sometimes I am wrong.

Finally the dreamers awaken to find
They are chilled through and through to the bone.
The sun has come up but the moon still shines,
And you just awoke all alone.

(I prefered the dynamic chorus - the static ones tend to strain to fit with the verses, unless the poet/lyricist is fucking brilliant as shit, which I ain't! )

      This is crazy!

      Nicely written there.
The best times of your life should not be when you're still so young, or else you'll live a life always dreaming of the past.
