      A picture I drew :D

I am insanely pleased with how this turned out!
I had to darken the picture so you could see the drawing. I didn't do anything else to it, and I did not trace anything! I simply looked off of a picture and followed some steps in my How to Draw Manga book.
      Post comments and criticism please!!!

I was very worried about the hair when I drew this, and it turned out nice. I would say the only real bad thing about the picture is the eye's and the mouth.

Proportions are of by a mile and it looks like she doesn't have a nose, though I am guessing this is because of the way you scanned the picture onto your pc. The clavicle bones are too far up, if you know what I mean.

I would probably have done the t-shirt different aswell (smaller opening around the throat) but meh, that's just "texture". Her breasts are a bit weird too.
The hair turned out nice though

Hey! where are the cat ears? lol just kidding Anyway, I'm no artist, so my opinion doesn't really matter, but I wanted to post because I like the picture. You should make more, or are you already?

It's the body mainly that's out of proportion. You can tell that the neck is too big and is uneven on the left shoulder. I had a bit of an issue with those clavicle things too.
That was my first time doing a t-shirt like that and I made it so big to show off the bones. The original picture was nude. And I was told that the breasts look weird because of the lines on the inside.

I'm going to make another one tonight. And you have no idea how much I debated on adding cat ears or not...

Other than that, I think I have the head down pretty well. The nose was drawn like that in the tutorial I looked over and the picture turned out pretty well. There are others way to add the nose that I'll look at though.
I just need to work on my body proportions and I think I'll have mostly everything down well.

Edit: And I hate it when I notice these things way after I draw it. I mean, I can see some things that are wrong and I fix them only after a few minutes of finishing it.

The thing is, it looks like she only has nostrils and that's creepy.

I don't think your book is very good. Just copying isn't enough, you have to learn some anatomy, even for less realistic styles, and I suspect that the picture you were copying wasn't that good in the first place. I'll dig up some better guides for you.

      http://www.bakaneko.com/howto/figure...my2/index.html

This one's pretty good, it covers both general anatomy and using it for manga-style art. It's one of the first I ever found when I decided it would be a good idea to learn to draw people better. Be sure to check out the pages it links to at the bottom.

      http://www.animezona.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1900

I found this the other day, and thought it looked like a good guide, it also focuses on manga-style art.

This one's just a quick guide to anatomy I found a while ago, good to refer to in order to make sure you've got general porportions and muscles drawn correctly.

Those things helped me a lot, and they'll probably also help you. Though I'm still nowhere near good enough at drawing people, studying that definitely helped me improve.

Her body is too small for her head.

The bones on her chest are up too high.

Her tits don't need those lines you drew in the center.

The eyes look big, even for anime.

      The nose is nearly non-existent.

      Her chin looks off-center.

And her shoulders aren't wide enough.

It's not enough just to copy out of a book. You have to learn at least basic anatomy, or all of your drawings are going to pretty much look like/be stuff copied from the book.

But Ok for a first try, I guess.

Next time I get some money, I'm going to buy an anatomy book. I saw some really cool ones that come with small manikans.

Stop buying books and read online tutorials instead. That way you can find tutorials that fit exactly your needs.

I'm sure you can download some kind of java application that will give you a model figure render thing, and if not, it's about time somebody makes it.

Don't worry too much about proportions or anatomy. That's specialty stuff you can figure out as you get more practice. Right now, I would just worry about getting the pencil to go where you want it, and getting your line weights as light or dark as you want. Get comfortable with the medium before you worry too much about perfecting anatomy. Remember, it's your drawing, you can make it look as distorted as you want, as long as its on purpose.

You could try holding your drawing up in front of a mirror. It will help you see it from a new angle. Or prop it up and walk across the room to see it from a distance.

Have you done any more drawing lately?

Yeah, I have done one but I don't know what I did with it...

I'll draw up another one sometime like the one above. I guess I'll just go back to drawing how I was without worrying about all that anatomy stuff

Yeah, I always have the intention of drawing people anatomically correct. Then I throw the intention out the window as soon as I see them on the page. People are too boring looking. Much more fun to exaggerate a little

I'm pretty sure this was a topic about Slayer's drawing, not Eric's. Can't you see? He probably didn't even look at the picture. All he saw was a chance to plug his own work. The "Hey that's pretty good!" is only there to deceive you into thinking he cares. Try reading the post without that part and see how it comes off. Now you see what I mean? It's just there to prevent people from calling him out and possibly giving him nice guy points in the process.

Sorry. But I did actually look at slayers and I did think that it was good.

And i didn't have that intention at all.

If I wanted to show off my artwork then I would've made my own thread. I just thought that we could exchange some constructive criticism.
