      Your Holidays...

We seem to have a nice mixed group here on DV so thought it would be interesting to see where you guys have your holidays typically, and where you plan on going, or have been this year.

I am from Brighton in the UK

      Holidays so far:

Austria / February / Snowboarding for a week. Awesome holiday and those that do snowboard will know what I mean. My friend has a house out there so we get a group of mates to drive over have a little road trip through Europe and then stop off in Austria and catch 7 days on the slopes. Liked it so much that....

      Austria / April /
Snowboarding for a week. Again as per above. I love it!

Ibiza, Balearic Islands / June / This is more of a sunning holiday and just chilling out. Staying at an all inclusive hotel so everything we need will be there. Will be a nice relaxing break form work and the rain of the UK lol.

Malaga, Spain / August / Going to fly out for a week to meet my parents at the villa out there. Again this is just a do nothing holiday for me, and will just sit around the pool all day, enjoy being with my family (as I don't live with them) and just generally get some sun

What I really want to do it go to the states again, but explore more. Been before but only went to Florida and did the theme parks and beaches. This time I would like to hire a car or something and drive around for a month or so

So what about everyone else? Where you been/going and where would you like to go in the future?

Well, my family doesn't get to travel much because of my parents work schedules, but next weekend, we're heading down to Maryland for a softball tournament. Just 2 nights, but we'll be close to the beach. Then in July we'll be going to the mountains somewhere, not sure where yet, but it'll be nice and relaxing.

And I'd love to go back to Disney World, the other time we were there some of the rides were closed.

We have a spread about three hours' drive north of here, on a beautiful piece of very remote river. Every two to three weeks, we spend a long weekend there, and try to work a couple weeks in too.

With five of us and three in skewl, it's really challenging to get away. I can't always leave our business even for a weekend, depending on workload, so even when we try to schedule things we have to remain flexible.

Aside from that, we don't really do much traveling. We made a decision years ago to sink the money we would spend on traveling and vacations into this piece of property, which we hope to make our home some day.

Well, I just got back from the Grand Canyon.

I'll definitely be going to Lake Powell this summer.

I will mostly likely visit Zion National Park.

In October we've got a girls' Rim to Rim (in one day) hike planned for the Grand Canyon (24 miles with 6000 feet evevation change). It's kind of like a marathon, yet straight up and straight down. I tried out the steepest 5 miles of the trail last week. It's pretty brutal. A friend said thatthis is on the top 10 hardest hikes in the US. I have no idea is that is really true. But I'll be training this summer.

I would also love to go to Northen CA, Oregon, or Washington. I love the desert, but sometimes I really like to visit places with trees.

Actually there are a ton of places I would love to visit. If I started making a list, it would never end.

You guys are so lucky! The states always sounds like you can just jump into your car and shoot off anywhere and it will be amazing! Here in the UK its all City visits, there is not really anything worth going to see

First off, Qwin, I love your avatar!!!

As for myself, the only thing I'm looking forward to is a trip to the beach during the last week of July. I'm hoping to get that whole week off (as otherwise I would have to find a car to drive), but I don't know about Saturday. Stupid bi-weekly schedule!
