Thread: The little things that you enjoy

Giving a gift with no expectation of return, only to experience the reaction it may induce (sorry, the setup was there, I had to follow through).

-Drinking non-burnt tea [green or red/oolong preferably]
-Watching clouds
-Doing something that took me a lot of time and/or effort for someone without them knowing it, just out of whim
-The smell of earth as water pelts the soft ground below
-Happy-looking plants
-Getting a comment or critique on my writing [stories and what not] because that means someone took some of the time out of their life to read my stuff

I saw this and was like yaaaa.
Then I saw the fresh sheets and I was like yaaa. Then I realized it was you again CoLd BlooDed. ~ May I add warm fresh sheets from the dryer.

So I guess we have some things in common, Howie. Warm fresh sheets from the dryer... damn, I love that too.

Another small thing I like is the result after cleaning the entire house and how much of a difference it makes when things are neat. I'm not a neatfreak at all, but I just like how things look when they're clean.

Ditto on that CB, when it's all clean you just feel calm and relaxed and not so chaotic like you felt when it was all a mess. I'm no clean freak either but the difference is worth the effort. It's as great as napping in the garden [though mine is among the concrete forest it is nestled safely in a concrete branch on a fat tree that houses not only my plants, but and my disruptive neighbors too]

I'd also like to add that I like it when my neighbors are at work, for I don't have to stand on a vibrating, pulsing samba floor... those moments of peace are the best

I like having just enough stubble to stroke a bit when I'm thinking, it feels funny.

I stroke my nonexistent stubble all the time!!

Hmm, drinking ice cold water when my mouth is parched from the heat.

Edit: I think this thread could be put into favorites or something. It'd be a great read when you're feeling low and just want to be reminded of all the little things that make us happy.

Haha, yeah I love feeling my stubble too. Sometimes I just put my head down into my arms and just rub it back and forth on my arm, it's actually starting to hurt a bit, but it feels so cool.

One of my favourites, is just walking around, and something just sets off this thing inside me, like walking through a nice part of town where there's a lot of beautiful trees and flowers, and everything just feels right, or just seeing kids playing in a playground and having a good time, and it makes me feel like I'm on top of the world, like I could not possibly be happier, and everything is just perfect the way it is.

Also, getting a warm sweater straight out of the dryer, or a warm towel after just stepping out of the shower is great. Also, like what RooJ said about looking up at the stars, I just experienced that about five minutes, when I realized I haven't really thought about or looked at them in the longest time, and I just realized how beautiful and perfect they are, and just how odd everything in this universe fits together to make it exactly the way it is.

I love discovering a new song that really just gets you pumped and ready to take on the world, and that feeling that you sometimes get, when you feel like you don't give even the slightest crap about what people may think of you, and just feel free to go nuts in the middle of the street and start dancing if that's what you felt like doing.

The smell of freshly cut grass is always amazing. Warm apple pie fresh out of the oven always smells oh-so heavenly. Also, I always get really excited when there's a thunder storm, so I love that too.... It's like a feeling of urgency, and it's just fun for some odd reason.

After being away from home for a few days, there's nothing better than walking through your door, and just dropping into your soft bed and resting for a good ten or twenty minutes.

Also, like someone else said earlier, waking up in the middle of the night and thinking you have to get up, then glancing at the clock realizing you still have like four hours left to sleep, or even better, realizing it's a Saturday and you don't even have to go anywhere in the first place.

Waking up from an amazing dream, and just having this overpowering emotion is always awesome.

So many things that I can't think of.... Life is great, eh.

I absolutely love staring at the night sky. Looking at the stars and moon is my favorite thing to do, especially when im a lake Shasta, the stars are extremely bright and you can see the milky way. Its soo peaceful.

Curling up into the foetal position.

I can't think of a little _everyday_ thing, which is sad. But I like the feeling of going outside at night - the cool air as you walk out of the pub/whatever and the altered light. And the opposite, when you've been caving which is dark & cool, and you come out into the light and even if it's windy it feels warm on your skin.

Oo, and jumping on and off walls randomly :-). "Air" is fun, the stretched moment while you're off the ground.

There's something about cuddling, holding hands and kissing that I find irresistible.

I agree completely. I love walking home at 2am on a Saturday morning. It's so peaceful and quiet. I often just sit around outside for a while on my own just enjoying the silence and tranquility. And taking in how different everything looks in the darkness.

I find this quite nice too when my beard gets just long enough to be fuzzy. It makes me feel like a cute little fuzzy kitten.

I'm a fan of scented candles but, I really love the taste and smell of fresh-ground peppercorns. I could eat that stuff on just about anything.

I like thinking that I'll find true love one day [there's always room for a romantic thought... regardless of cheese levels].
I like the smell of sandalwood on my bed. [My incense does that... mmm]
I like that silky smooth feeling.
I like to see a child smile on a gloomy day.
I like knowing that not all people believe in first impressions.
I like knowing that people won't leave me to be alone.
I like knowing that something beautiful can be made with rigid, hilly hands.
[In short, I like a lot of things.]

Drinking my chocolate coffee in the mornings.

Looking forward to something fun and exciting.

Knowing I have the following day off work and can sleep in!

I love to laugh and to make others laugh.
I love the sensation of dancing in perfect rhythm with a partner.
I love a good soul cleansing cry.
I love a movie with great special effects or outstanding martial artistry.
I also love when my son and I watch a movie together and make the same comment at the same time.
I love the way I can go to the bathroom and my dogs light up with joy upon my return as tho I've been gone for days! LOL!!
I love when someone has their first lucid dream and their enthusiasm and awe transports me back to how I felt after my first one.

And I definitely agree with that one. When I read some one's first-time LD, I can feel their excitement as if I were there with them.

Me too

Since my emotions can be, at times, unpredictable, I've learned to really enjoy the little things. Things like a nice cup of coffee in the morning, like a nice rainstorm, a good sunset, but probably my favorite little thing is seeing beautiful clouds in the evening.

Ooh...I got the little warm-and-fuzzy feeling there!

I've started to notice how much fun a good rainstorm can be with the recent ones we've been having here in South Yorkshire - Although I should probably feel a bit guilty for saying that, what with all the people who have been run out of their homes by the flooding here. My dad actually found himself waist deep in water walking down the side of the bypass after abandoning his car. Still, every cloud has a silver lining, I suppose.
