      Tell me about Tattoo's

Ok so I had this debate on another forum and thought it would be interesting to discuss here.

Do you have any tattoo's? And if you do why do you have them? Do they signify anything to you or are they just for decrotive purposes? Also if you have any pictures show there here.

I don't have any myself because I cant think of anything that I would want to perminantly mark my body with, other than a childs name; and since I dont have any children, dont have any tattoo's. But even if I did, I dont think I would get one.

I think they look good on some people. I am not against them on other people if they look right. But personally for me, I dont like them on me and dont think I would ever get one.

I don't have tattooes because they would look weird when I'm old and saggy!!

I could see myself tattooing a name, maybe of a close one who died or something. It would have to be something very significant for me to tattoo it on myself.

I know that you'll most likely regret getting a tatoo. In a way you can think of a tatoo as an artistic scar...

I would never get a tattoo. Way too permanent for my taste.

      Wow, that's a hairy arm.

Anyway, I can never see myself getting a tattoo, too much to go wrong and they would look crap when I'm old. An old friend of mine from a forum I used to visit had the names of videogame characters he liked tattooed onto his back in Kanji for some reason. Not only did he get one of the names wrong, he also got the wrong kanji altogether. It's impossible to tell, but I'd hate for something like that to happen to me.

If I love a picture that much I'll buy the T-shirt. At least when I'm tired of the shirt I can take it off and never wear it again.

I've got two younger brothers who each are littered with tattoos. And yes, I chose the term "littered" because it's an accurate description.

I don't care if anyone else has tattoos but, not me. I never want that on myself. The closest I've come is that I once had a girlfriend with a few tattoos, pierced navel, yadda-yadda.

      Nope, not me.

I can see the attraction of some people to them, however I don't think that I would get one myself. In my opinion they seem very unprofessional. Say you had two identical candidates for a job, one had no tattoos, the other was covered in them. Which person is more likely to be hired? They give out the wrong image I think.

I think it is actually discrimination to not offer someone a job based on tattoo's and pretty sure a company wouldn't be able to base an application soley on this. Unless of course said person had a web tattoo'd on his/her face

I'm considering getting one or two sparrows somewhere, probably on my calf. I love birds and also, I like Matthew 10:29-31:

29"Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. 30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows."
There's also a similar verse about ravens, so that's another option.

I'm okay with tattoos if they have meaning and aren't just there to make you look badass. In fact, I wanna get one in a few years. I'd get one now if I didn't think my parents would be sorta freaked (to them it wouldn't seem like something I'd do). Just want one or two little ones that are symbols of things I believe in. For example, an American Flag with the name of, say, my favorite singers or something on it. There's 2-in-1 right there. Or maybe a little cross. I'd get it on my ankle or the bottom of my back (different ends of the spectrum, I know) so that I could let people see them if I wanted to or cover them if I wanted to. Hopefully people don't look there when you're applying for jobs.

You're 15, huh? Take it from a 34 year-old. Your favorite musicians now won't be your favorites in 10, 20, 30 years from now. In fact, there's a good chance that you'll look back on many things you like now and think, "Oh my God. How the hell did I ever listen to that crap ". Then you'll look down at your arm and bow your head in shame.

Just think about the moron with the large picture of OJ Simpson tattooed on his back. I bet he's real proud of that one now. You should really think a little harder if you're planning to get a tattoo.

Ain't that the truth!! That's why you gotta be SO careful. I think the safest bet would be tattooing the name of your deceased child or something. Wow okay that's depressing... but really, that's one of the only things that will have meaning for you for life.

I want a tatoo that goes across the top of my back between my soldiers. I've seen some cool ones with Union Jacks and snarling British Bulldogs. I'd probably end up doing something like that.

There's a tattoo shop in Sheffield that advertises "E-Z Raze - non laser tattoo removal". Does anyone know anything about it?

Adopted Megabenman although he disappeared a while ago.

There's a bunch of tattoo shops in my area. I have a hard time understanding how they manage to actually stay in business.

I don't know but I heard about some new "removable" tattoo ink yesterday. I don't know the procedure but - if I had to guess - I'd say it's done with either laser or intense UV light. Or something.

I decided on the content of my tattoo a long time ago but it took me about 5 years to get the design right. I did several different designs before I finally drew this one up. The phoenix is a metaphor for my personality and its as much a part of my body now as my hands and feet. I am sure that I will never regret the decision to put this on my body and intend to get more.

I do want tattoos, for sure. I have a few plannd out already but none that don't have meanings.

Next year I am going to get the Japanese symbol for soul on my chest. I have strong ideals in the sense of ones self and knowing that your soul is something you are, not something you have.

The tattoo I want in correlation with that is the saying by C.S.Lewis: "You do not have a soul, you ARE a soul. You have a body." The placing is a bit up in the air. I want it in Arabic though, on my ankle or lower back.

Then when i have children I want their newborn handprints tattooed on my hips, at a spot where only my husband and I would ever see. I would have the children's names in cursive around the fingertips. Cyan blue for a boy, Indian Clay red for a girl.
      Somewhere weakness is our strength
      I'll die searching for it...
      I believe that there's hope
