Tell me about life outside of the city

So, I've been doing some thinking lately, and the idea of ditching Toronto for a much less urban location sometime in the future doesn't seem half bad.

However, I don't know very much at all about town life -- ie, how easy is it to get a job, exactly how rural of a place I should aim for, and, well, I know next to nothing, except that I should really work on getting that driver's license.

And so I come to you lovely DreamViews folk for help. Any information you have to offer is much appreciated.

Ah, I was just in Toronto. You actually don't know how lucky you have it. I love Toronto because of the people and how upbeat it is. Well, compared to Oakville anyway. Living in a town is alright speaking about Oakville though it’s really boring. Not to hard to get a job. Like any job having experience and if you know someone who works there is a plus. Yes that driver’s license is key. I don't know what else to say except it much more quite and as not much goes on community wise. We have the waterfront festival and Midnight Maddness that happense once a year. Toronto you have the Jazz festival which is tonight right? Concerts, a lot of shopping, tv stations I'm guessing... But a town you have a general mall, downtown with more expensive stores and bunch of schools and homes. In general a town is nice because it's much quieter and calm which I tend to like.

Well, we have two jazz festivals, a blues festival, a bunch of film festivals (I've never been to one cause you generally have to be 18 and/or pay a lot), and A LOT of other stuff, but my parents scarcely let me go anywhere cool anyway so I won't miss anything event-wise.

Also, I live in the 'burbs so I'm used to a pretty uneventful community.

I was actually thinking of perhaps moving a couple-hour-drive away from Toronto, as opposed to whereever else, so that I can still visit every once in a while whenever it gets boring.

With the threat off being too straightforward I have to say I cannot stand the city.
      I hate population, traffic, sheep.

An urban setting provides solitude, quite, tranquil.
Grass hoppers, locust singing in the mid day, the Katydids song at night. If your lucky the transdecant song of a hoot owl.
      Fresh air. Fire flies.

Oh yaa . I really don't know what trandecant means.
It is the whole "get the hell out of my way attitude."

I agree with Howie.... I don't much care for cities, I live in a small place in Nova Scotia, called Eastern Passage/Cow Bay. There's not much down here really, but it's really nice I think. It's a place where if you mention someones name, virtually everyone is going to know who they are kind of thing. Not a lot of people, but there's definitely quite a few.... The high school I go to right now has about 10,000 people or less in it, and that's a combination of like the five surrounding communities....

It's pretty easy to get a job here though, just not really in the summertime.... Depends on what kind of job you're after, if it's just a part-time job type thing, than yeah, it's pretty easy to get ahold of. As for career jobs, I'm not sure as far as those....

So the basics of town life: boring, not much to do, nice and peaceful, pretty uneventful most of the time, a good twenty minutes or so of driving to reach a remotely populated area with shopping malls etc., but nice....

      I can't imagine city life, I just don't think I'd enjoy it.
