Talking Tell me about that ratty piece of clothing you can't throw out!

Admit it.. we all have that one piece of clothing that's more "holes" than fabric or that everyone else thinks is hideous that we just can't bear to part with!

Mine is a "nylon blend" sleepshirt that my husband got me YEARS ago and I love it. It's stretchy and threadbear and has holes and tears everywhere.. but when I sleep in it, it doesn't strangle or bind me.. it just gives way where it needs to!

I would DIE of embarrassment if I was ever seen in it by anyone other than my husband tho!

So tell me.. what is your secret article of clothing shame?

Hmm, clothing of shame eh? Not sure if I have one... perhaps a little blanket I have become attached to? Yes, honestly, although I don't really need it, I have a strange smelling old "Blankeee" as I used to call it, and it really makes me feel quite happy. I used to carry it around with a small toy truck apparently, and that was my baby trademark.

Unfortunately, I just realized this blanket has little dainty squirrels and flowers on it, so I may feel a slight bit of shame if you see me with it, though I may play it off with a

I have a Disney-cartoon character blanket from the day I was born. It's extremely comfy but kinda small, which sucks cause it's an awesome blanket. :p

I did, it was yellow and knitted by my grandmother. I called it... blanket. But at some point during my early youth, my sister stole it from me, and now it's her blanket, and not mine I was made a new blue one, but it's not the same.

apart from that, I'm still growing, and I generally outgrow clothes too quickly to get very attached to them. Can't go on much longer though, if I get much taller I'll be... very tall

I have a blankee from when I was born but I also have this big, green mesh (like woven with tiny holes so you can look through it). I don't know where it came from but tis always in my room and I like it.

My grandfather is really into all the old clothes. My grandma always has to throw them away. It's kinda funny because it will be like 90 degrees and they'll both come out with 2 old layers of jackets on. I don't really have a piece of clothing that I adore. I usually just throw on jeans or Adidad shorts (depending on time of year) and grab a random white t-shirt from my closet.

Oh god, my grandfather is terrible for keeping old:
      • books
      • tapes
      • videos
His office is covered in piles of tapes and videos, and the walls of several rooms in the house are dedicated to bookcases.
Sorry, that's a bit off-topic, but vaguely relevant.

I've still got a T-shirt from 7th grade (about 13 years ago...) that says "HAND OVER THE CHOCOLATE AND NO ONE WILL GET HURT", in cut-out letters like a randsom note. My favorite teacher got it for me - he really understood me!

I have a pair of jeans that I shall never part with.
The knees are ripped out, and bits down the back of my legs.
Also an area of my bum is ripped on them.

I still wear them outside the house too. *blush*

OK, you caught me Clairity, when I was born my great grandma knitted me a yellow and white blanket that i loved.. I wore it as a cape but i fell out the attic in our old house one day and it got caught and literally hung me.. but i was fine but it got a huge hole in the blanket. I still love that thing.

Also this old shirt, the colar is torn up and there are holes under the armpits as big as the arm-holes are.

I think it's sweet that you still love the blankee that almost KILLED YOU (or did it save you in a way from a really bad fall)?

Who found you "hanging".. I mean how did you get down? As a mom, the thought of my son hanging is pretty unbearable.

I have this old plad hunting jacket that used to belong to my great uncle (don't even know if he's still alive ). My grandmother gave it to me a few years ago, but it must be at least 60 years old by now! Still serves me well too.

      Wow, you're a young 'un

I've keep some underwear until they were riddled with holes. I'm not so cheap these days though. Once I wear through I toss them out. But I do keep and use T-shirts until they're torn up.

And I don't "love" them, so to speak but, I do have all of my old Scout uniforms (well, the shirts and sashes at least).

Well i didnt actually hang suspended.. but it really hurt my neck. But I was fine shortly after. I guess it pretty much slowed my fall. and the stairs were out so i was fine.

Mine is probably my old Dragonball Z shirt with This picture on the back, which I've had since, maybe ninth grade. It's way too big for me now (I've lost a bit of weight, since I'd bought it) but I still rock it every now and then.
The main reason, I'd say, that I love it so much is because, instead of just being a generic picture of DBZ characters, it is actually a still from one of the DBZ movies, wherein Goku, Gohan and Goten (Father and two sons) both pull off Goku's (one of my favorite - if not my favorite - cartoon characters of all time) signature move, to defeat the most powerful survivor of their alien race. To those that have never watched DBZ, it doesn't mean all that much but, for a manga series that has spanned over 500 chapters and God-knows-how-many cartoon episodes, this part of the DBZ universe is legendary.

Anyway. I love the picture, and I love reminiscing on one of the most powerful scenes in any anime I've ever seen, so I probably won't get rid of this shirt, any time soon...even though it's faded as all shit, and got a few holes in it.

I didn't need to know that.

I'm pretty ruthless with all my old things.

I'm usually bored of my clothes in about six months anyway, and once I'm bored of them I kind of feel a bit sick wearing them.

Anyway, I throw them out at the first sign of a hole or tear. That was back when I was too cheap and lazy to keep buying new clothing. Oh yeah, and single. I'm single now but I'm not so cheap and lazy about it. Instead, I make sure to buy way more than I need so that there's plenty of backups. Same goes for socks.

I have a 10 year old tie died dead bear shirt that is starting to get large holes in it . It's not wearable in public anymore but I'll never throw it away. I'll have it when it's nothing but little strips of material lol.

That really is adorable, all the guys and their blankies.

Mine is a very old black tee with the Jack Daniels label on the front. I have no idea how old it is but it's damned near see through at this point. I also cut the sleeves off somewhere along the line. I use it as a nightie.

Hey, don't you mean my old black tee with the JAck Daniels on it Since when did you get your clothing back?

Mine would be an old black jacket of mine, it's sort of fading and wearing away but I just can't throw it away. Although, I do wear different jackets.
