Tell me about your most controversial view.

So yeah anything, from vague racism to hatred of goodness.

I''d say my hatred of basically all real fat people.
And a slight feeling of men being far stronger emotionally than woman, who suck in that aspect.

      Oh, and women can't drive.

      Your mom can't drive...

      Oh wait...

      ---

More seriously though, I think its the fact that I don't like to beat around the bush. I prefer to be totally honest and put forth my opinion, no matter what others think of it. Makes me come across as an asshole at times.

99.8% of music on the radio is pure crap (this goes for every single genre). If it's good, chances are it will never be heard.

That there is a real, objective center to morality. And not only that, but 1.)It has nothing to do with "right" or "wrong", nor "good" or "bad" 2.) It has nothing to do with religion or anything supernatural, and 3.)It can be seemlessly deduced from undeinable, self-evident axioms of reality.

Simply put, it comes down to consistent logic and inconsistent logic, and that is what determines if an act is moral or immoral, respectively.

I believe that government exists primarily to grow, enrich and empower itself. Anything else it just happens to do, for better or worse, is merely a byproduct of its primary goal.

      ALL government.

I agree with you too much on this, i don't see the point in her getting all this publicity when there are other kids in her position with parents that struggle to get publicity, its been too long now and i'm sick of hearing about it.

      Osimero:

      These simple haiku
      That Japanese poets write;
      They beg to differ.

Also, my most controversial view? The stolid belief that every single person over 12 that is responsible enough should carry a knife at all times. Knives are man's most useful (physical) tool, and should be treated as such, instead of the stupid view that, "all knives are weapons," that most sheeple hold these days.

I know that technically they're poetry, but what I meant is that to me it doesn't feel like poetry.

Come to think of it, that's probably not my most controversial view.

Mine is probably that there is no such thing as evil, or an evil person.
negative actions are done because of ignorance.
A generous heart, kind speech, and a life of service
and compassion are the things which renew humanity.

Here are two big ones of mine:

      1. The minimum legal driving age should 21. All drivers should be required to re-take a license exam at the ages of 50, 55, 60, and every two years after that.

      2. All prospective parents should be required to take IQ tests as well as parental fitness exams. Those who cannot get their scores to a reasonable level by the time their child is 6 months old should have the child taken away and put up for adoption by more suitable parents.

Oh, and by the way, three children per family is more than enough. Anyone who wants a fourth should simply be placed into a mental institution.

I am seriously unimpressed by the whole Madelaine McCann thing.
Who leaves their kids alone like that anyway?

I like PJ's virtual admission to being an anarchist as well.

Anarchy is a very noble ideal in my opinion,

But probably, my most controversial view is that the world would be a far more stable and wealthy place if we were all subjects of one big super-state or world empire.

How can hundreds of little self-interested countries ever make for peace?

Its not humans vs nature, we are just as big a part of nature as the tree's are. We're natures golden child, the greatest achievement of its evolution. Its probably not my most controversial view but it kinda irks me when people talk like the human animal is somehow seperate from and against nature or the planet. This doesn't in anyway excuse us from responsibility though.

An idea that I was playing around with that id imagine is very controversial is that war is natural, and may also be beneficial to a top predator who's ability to evolve is questionable in light of no competition from other species. Just the same as ant colonies fight with one another, lion prides and monkey... troops? etc, so do humans.

I was going to post the same thing, except to start re-testing at the age of 60, not 50, and to be re-tested every 2 years until the age of 70, then annually thereafter. I think I've made a thread in Extended Discussion about this before.

I doubt you'll get any one's "most controversial view" here. And it's best that way. Why would we want to open up a big can of worms and start huge fights over nothing? Oh wait, that's what we do in every thread. Still, you'll not hear mine but I'll show my agreement with some others:

Same here. I try to be kind, civil and treat people with respect but, I don't generally take the most diplomatic route and I often come across as an @sshole for it. Oh well, love me or hate me - the choice is yours.

So true. Only the most commercial bullcrap makes it to the airwaves. And that in itself is a surprise since you'd think that GOOD stuff would be what's "commercially well-suited" but you'd be wrong. The foolish masses eat crap like it's candy. I don't see who could possibly enjoy crap flavored candy but, it goes to show the power of being force-fed sh!t.

So very true. I think government serves a very worthy purpose. But I also see that governments are out to grow themselves and become the "saviors (read: controllers) of the people". Though they are almost never truly the saviors of anything except their own agendas and preservation.

I'm Conservative to the core. I believe that government needs to step back, scale back and quit trying to tell me what the hell I can and can't do. Rules are rules, yes. I respect and welcome rules. But I also respect that limits to the government's power and say-so must be kept in check. You give them an inch - they take a mile. You cave to one tax increase - they pile on more. You allow them to abuse their power - they never back down.

Travellers are scum and should be shot.

Madelleine McCann may have gone on for too long, but what about Princess Diana? She's ruined the news for 10 years! Oh, and yes I think the McCanns were exceptionally irresponsible.

But because you're in America the whole Diana incedent is fairly diluted and you don't have to hear about Diana every few weeks like us in Britain.

Not my most controversial view... but I can see into my neighbours bedroom.

Starry starry night, paint your pallet blue and gray,

I think I can safely say that I agree with this. Skysaw, Burns, did you know that it is in fact against the Constitution to have to have a driver's license in the first place? And where the hell did our right to bear arms drift off to? Now you have to go through ten days of "cooling off period," a stack of paperwork, and a huge hassle to even purchase a gun, much less carry it! Gun laws and knife laws are just plain un-Constitutional. Taxes are, too, for that matter. Taxes are, according to the U.S. Constitution, supposed to be implemented only in times of war, when they are needed to fund the military. And being forced to have a permit to carry a handgun? What the hell? That's what the Constitution is for! It gives me, you or any other adult in the United States of America the Right To Bear Arms.

And now they've banned prayer from schools. What happened to "One Nation Under God"? Freedom of religion shouldn't interfere with freedom of speech. I have much more to say, but this not a rant topic, so I"ll just stop now. Sorry for the rant, I get riled at things like this sometimes. Don't get me started on Al Gore...
