Make sure you don't distract yourself, with staying awake, whilst forgetting to do that "driving" thing.
You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.

Those things put me to sleep faster than anything else on the road.

Except one time I left Weird Al's "Running with Scissors" CD in the player, and about halfway home I got to the "secret track" which contained a bunch of blood curling screaming and chainsaws and such... THAT woke me up

Yeah.. that would do it (as I panic and veer off the road into a ditch)!

I know someone who used to be truck driver. His method of driving was simply to fall asleep whenever he want, and when he felt the truck start to slide into the ditch, it would wake him up and he veered back onto the road.
He didn't stay on the job very long, though.

If you're sleepy, don't drive. Is there a bus you can take? You'd probably save overall, what with wear on the car, and gas prices as obscene as they are. All the good advice has already been given, otherwise (mainly, coffee + music). You can always try drinking a lot of water and not going to the bathroom before you leave - that'll keep ya awake .

See that's why I'm leery of driving beside a truck or semi!
