Tell me about your thoughts on Halloween

      Hey guys,

I thought that this would make an interesting thread considering that there has been a recent build up with avatars changing for halloween, i thought it would be interesting to get everyones opinions on the actual day itself?

My experience with halloween has been pretty bad, i like the idea of halloween, but unfortunately my parents were never big fans of it, they would never let me go out as a child to go trick or treating or anything, thinking about it now it probably would have been a bit of fun since i did want to go out trick or treating with my friends but unfortunately i wasn't allowed. But i will make sure that if i have kids i will let them go out if they wish.

My only problems with halloween is when people take it to another level, for example, when i experienced some trouble a few years ago with some people at school we received a whole night of prank calls and then we got some people who knocked on the door and ran that same night, from then on it has given me a bad impression on halloween, though nothing has happened in recent years since then i always get this constant anxiety that something may happen again. It shouldn't be like that at all on halloween, it should be fun.

What are your thoughts on halloween?

I love halloween. It's a night of mystery and you get to dress up and be something else for a night. There are problems when people let that be an excuse to damage property. Prank calls and running after knocking aren't very serious considering some of the stuff that happens (I knock and run on my grandparents every year and by next halloween they forget its me doing it, I sneak behind their house and watch the confusion through the windows). Last Halloween me and a friend hid my another friends skateboard ramps up in his treehouse and we don't know if he found them yet (we don't hang out with him much anymore).

Some parents claim stuff about the devil and it being bad and such but no one turns satanist by going trick or treating, come on. There was a Christian teen radio show I used to listen to while it was on to hear all the lame kids call in with dumb questions. They had a Halloween show and it was pretty stupid with all these kids going to their youth groups on Halloween (not that theres something wrong with that but they had been brainwashed into thinking that dressing up as a ghost is gonna send you to hell).

Another good part of Halloween is Ghost to Ghost (Coast to Coast Am's yearly show with all ghost stories).

Overall I would just say that there is an exitement about Halloween the same that there is wandering around at night. You're not sure what's gonna happen and there is an exitement about what you might do. It's kinda a battle of wits to see who can prank others and get away with it.

Also we should get a week off school for Halloween.

I love Halloween. I think it's my second favourite holiday, second only to Christmas/Chrismukkah.

It's so great because it's a night of mischief, I love the "constant anxiety" that something might happen, because it makes the night really interesting. It's an excuse to stay out late walking the streets in the dark, and everything you see around you is different, it's the only day of the year you're going to see a ton of people all dressed up funny, as well as the houses having pumpkins sitting out, along with banners and hay, and scarecrows and all that stuff.... I go out with friends every year and every year except last year something interesting and crazy happens. Good times....

Halloween is my favorite holiday, as anyone who knows me is well aware. I love the fall season - the turning leaves, the crisp fall air, and the magical feeling that surrounds Halloween.

I celebrate Samhain, one of the eight Sabbats, the end of the Wheel of the Year and the end of the summer harvest. They say that Samhain - or Halloween, All Hallow's Eve, etc - is when the veil between the world of the living and the dead is the thinnest. A good time honoring the dead - whether it be ancestors, past loved ones and friends, pets, etc. It is a celebration of death as a part of the wheel of life, something we all must experience at some point in our lives.

Halloween used to be really exciting to me. It just isn't anymore. My parents are Christian to the max and we'd only ever celebrate things with the other people of the church. Still, the people in the church always go crazy on the decorations for any event. They usually have a Halloween party and everyone from the church goes. They make up games and everyone has a lot of fun. People really go all out with their costumes and they are usually funny ones. There's nothing against dressing up as a ghost or dead guy or whatever. The only things that wouldn't be okay would be to dress up as a devil or witch or some other figure that is against the religion.

Ever since I grew out of trick or treating, Halloween hasn't been nearly as exciting. Of course there are those who say you're never too old, and I've gone trick or treating being as old as I am, but I guess I just grew out of the excitement. Plus I'm not really close with anyone in the church anymore like I was back then. I don't really have anyone like that now.

Halloween is evil, and you'll all burn in hell .

Just kididng. I love Halloween. I found that once I grew out of trick or treating, I had a bit of a slump (between being a kid and a grown-up, I didn't have very much to do on halloween). But then, once you're old enough, there's a new halloween spirit that sets in. I always make sure I wear a costume to work, and attend at least one costume party hehe. Good times to be had!

Am I the only one who likes Halloween because of all the drunken dress up parties going on?

Starry starry night, paint your pallet blue and gray,
Look out on a summers day,
with eyes that know the darkness of my soul.

Hahaha. That's awesome. I was just about to put that in my reply, and then I read yours.

But yeah, I always look at people that say they are too old for Halloween like they are stupid. I mean, what is better than a Halloween party? Nothing. That's what. Not even Christmas parties. I mean, Christmas parties are all fun and everything, but when you've got a room full of chicks dressed up like nurses, bees, bunnies or sexy witches, and you're dressed up like your favorite super hero, movie character, comedy skit or inanimate object, and you're all just sitting around and getting hammered together...tell me...how can you opt to just stay home?

Halloween has always been, and will always be, one of my favorite Holidays.

      Exactly!

You definately can't go wrong with any of that. Although I do like Christmas Parties because of the mistletoe.

I hate being around drunk people. They really annoy me with how stupid they act. I hate getting drunk. It just makes me get annoyed at things really easily and usually makes me feel sick. I also hate the feeling of having less control over my body and mind. Everytime I've been drunk, the only thing going through my head is, "I hope this gets over soon. I don't want to feel this way anymore." I usually avoid parties because why would I go somewhere where I'm going to be annoyed at people the whole time? I guess I'm just a party pooper.

Haha. Yeah. I don't know what I'm going to be this year, yet. But I'll post some pics, whatever I decide.
And I actually had a Blade dream last night. Lol. Funny you should mention that.

What's so bad about that? Omg, you got ding dong ditched and prank phone called... At least you didn't know me... I toilet papered some kids house one time during hallowwen with 180 rolls of TP, with a few friends. You couldn't even see house when we were done, or his cars. SOOOO fun. His parents made him pick it all up and grounded him haha. Oh and it rained like the perfect amount that night so it just stuck to everything. Just one of the few people I pwned back in the day with TP. My house has yet to get fucked with, cuz they know I'd kill em. I have cameras bitches!

Anyways halloween is cool because you get candy. Any other reasons? Oh ya.. opportunity to get laid easier.

Gothic/emo kids are the only ones I don't like during halloween because they are weird and I don't like them anytime anyways.

But I don't trick or treat anymore so I'll probably buy a bunch of candy and throw a house party and get ultra trashed and give candy to kids

Try another mind altering substance... Alcohol is the shittiest feeling out of them all. Almost. And one of the worst for your body.

How in the world do you get laid easier on Halloween? Are you talking about people from parties?

I don't know maybe it's just extra confidence, or something. Every halloween for the past few years has worked out. It is during the parties yes. Plus the halloween party is at my house, which is a bonus.

That's awesome. Definately helps when you know where the bedrooms are.

      Closets are sufficient, though .

But really, you don't need to get wasted to enjoy a Halloween party. In fact, I contend that it's more fun getting laid when you're both sober (if that's your goal at the party to begin with).

The girls use it as an excuse to dress up like whores. It's my favourite holiday other than the 4th of July, maybe more.

In response to a previous post, yes it's easier to get laid on Halloween. I haven't had a Halloween since I got to college where I didn't.

Heh. I always find it funny when people act like it's a crime that a girl wants to dress sexy, every now and then. Gotta tack some negative connotation onto it. But, hey, whateva.

      EXACTLY!

I love Halloween. My mom raised me on horror movies so I think it'll be with me forever. And I just looooooooove the two weeks before. Love, love, love it! It's a great time of year, leaves everywhere and it's chilly, but not too chilly (well, in Vancouver BC anyway). It just FEELS so rad. SUCH an awesome time of year.

Something tells me that you don't understand the situation fully, these pranks were only because they hated me, i'm glad i don't know you to be quite honest because you sound just like the jerks who picked on me.

As much as I love halloween, if I got prank called constantly by people who really hate me, I'd have it traced and get the police involved. Also, while I've never been TP'd, I can imagine it would be ridiculously long and painful to clean it up (especially if it's been raining). I say have all the fun you want, but not at the expense of others.
